Two thoughts:

The fact that 99% of Clemson football programs obtain degrees is incredible — as in not believable. Clemson is either handing them out like candy, or else "Dabo" and his rabid IPTAY boosters are paying off the faculty grading them. This absolutely deserves an investigation.
Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia have no obligation to make football players study, other than giving them time to study. I understand that they provide tudors free of charge.A better metric would be how much does the average football player earn first year out of college? I bet UGA wins this one because more players to to the NFL and that UGA is rated significantly higher than Clempson on the academic scale. Their announcer, Don Munson (no relation to Larry btw) is just a cheap hack working on orders from Clemson folks. I believe it was to help Dabo's recruiting, since he lags behind UGA every single year. To drop this burning sack of dung 48 hours prior to the game is really ****. The Clemmons President should summarily fire this hack.

If Clemson is graduating 99% of their players, then something illegal, immoral, or unethical is going on even if Clemson's academics are inferior to those at UGA. UGA provides its players tudors and plenty of time for study. I would bet that the average first year salary for UGA football players after their eligibility is exhausted is significantly higher than Clemson's because more move to the NFL and UGA's academic reputation is far superior to Climpson's. The leadership at Clemmons Univerisity should summarily fire Don Lemon (no relation to Larry) for his cheap and classless comments 48 hours before the game.

We provide players academic scholarships and the opportunity to obtain degrees from a top 20 public university. Clemson is not a top 20 public university btw. Whether they take advantage of it is up to each individual player, not Kirby Smart's responsibility. Carson Beck doesn't need a degree if he is already earning millions annually. Clemson's Refrigerator Perry evidently didn't need one either from his look on the documentary fishing for catfish in a tattered set of overalls after squandering his professional football money. Don Lemon is Exhibit 1 that Climpson has absolutely zero class as evidenced by the ugliest uniforms in college football, bar none.

Like others have stated, transfers obviously affect these numbers. We were at 87% just 3 years ago.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Sounds like the program is making changes to address the lag.
