We have made a slow but steady decent since the 2001 National Championship game. I believe we have reached a point below the line of what Kirby Smart calls, "elite."

Beck is not providing the strong leadership and focus to the offense that is required to be elite. the receiver room is mediocre on a good day and usually worse…. The line is porous. The running backs are not effective.

The defense is glaringly weak around the corners.

Bobo and Schumann are an order of magnitude less capable than Monken and Lanning…

We will continue to descend from the top until these weaknesses are turned into strengths…

I'm ok with #5. I'd rather not have the distraction of #1 or #2 ranking. Let someone else carry that burden. Hopefully, our Dawgs will have clear heads and feet planted firmly on the ground moving forward. It's time to draw a line under the Alabama game and get busy with the hard yards that lay ahead.

    Go Dawgs!

Maybe Kirby needs to stop focusing on his team and worry more about the opponent and what they’ll do. That philosophy is irrelevant now. That was painfully obvious last night.
Beck needs to get his head straight. He’s more worried about that car, his clothes, his girlfriend and the money. He’s about to lose most of those things if he doesn’t start being a leader.

Couldn't agree more Beachwagon….as far as Beck is concerned…..He will be a great NFL QB, if fact, he's one now….mistakes, misques, losses don't seem to matter, its on to the next game and collect my millions….I just don't see the "hunger" in his eyes or demeanor….I truly hope I am wrong, I truly hope I've completely misjudged Carson…..going forward I sure hope Kirby and Mike allow Gunner and company shots for experience and development.

I think he is going to be holding a clipboard for an elite QB. I don't see this guy being able to hang in the NFL

No need to throw the Dawgs "under the bus" just yet. The second half performance indicates what potential they have as a team. They're a good team, not a great one. So we'll land somewhere in the top ten, lower than what all of the pundits have said from the start. Beck is still a very good QB, receivers dropped quite a few balls that Brock and Ladd would've probably caught. The biggest disappointment for me has been in the demise of our running game. Last night it was pass or no go. And a lot of the plays Bobo calls are lateral runs or passes…for little or no gain. We're having a difficult time pushing the ball straight up the field by running up the middle or off tackle or throwing over the middle. If we don't improve playing in the middle we will continue to struggle. There is still a lot of competition remaining and much to gain. Go Dawgs!

Wanted to downvote this, but I kept reading. I don’t agree with your first section, but absolutely do agree with the second, although I don’t know anything about the girlfriend (and you’re the second person to mention her). Idunno what changed between last year and this one, but if the dude wants to play anywhere after college, he needs to pull it back together.

Idunno, man. Maybe, maybe not. (I REALLY want to see more of Gunner, though. He played for my younger cousin’s school (though she was well-past graduated) and home-grown talent is always intriguing)

It does make a person wonder, though. How much is NIL really affecting the quality of the game as a whole? Do championships matter when individuals can make bank, still boost a team’s overall image for recruits (by showing that individuals can make bank), and end with an 8-4 season? My hope is yes, team accolades matter, and that being part of a championship program is a legitimate enticement, but it’s hard to know how badly those dollar signs are really changing the game.

Yes, yes, and yes. I’m not cashing in my chips like I’ve seen so many ready to do.

These guys are very good. Just… not consistent.

I’m not even ready to jump on the “fire Bobo” train. It’s too easy. The guys are just too hit/miss on the O to know whether the plays are too predictable, the players just aren’t executing, or if the plays are what they are because the players are what THEY are.

“receivers dropped quite a few balls that Brock and Ladd would've probably caught.” I’ll be honest: if it weren’t for Brock, Ladd, Jordan Davis, and Jalen Carter, we would have two less championships. Yes, they were both team efforts, but dang if those magicians didn’t create a hefty chunk of what the team was doing.

Run the ball? When your down 23 pts what's the point! I'm not a big Bobo fan but he did exactly what was needed and nearly pulled off an unprecedented miracle. By the way we did try to run the ball and were stuffed like a two dollar teddybear. I'm a Ga fan but I do enjoy exciting game and I doubt we'll see one like that in a while.

Finally, this team had no business being rank #1. What team should be ranked # 1 when 90% of its receiving and rushing scores from last season are gone. When 2 DB'S from that team are starting in the NFL. When it loses 18 players to the portal including a starting ilb and 2 players. Sorey and Tres Marshall who saw significant playing time last year. When the TE who was intended to replace an All American 1st rounder is a complete bust. Our transfers are helping but need time to fit into the system. I'm not sure Bobo knows how to use Etienne

(Hint: look how Monken used McIntosh and Cook). And the conference schedule, did Josh or Jere have anything to do with it and if so, what the hell.

All this **** about Beck. 34 pts I believe that would have been enough to win every game but one against Bama under Smart. This was the 3rd slow start offensively against FBS opponent, what new? Now the defense, were Schumann a n d Smart actually at the 2023 SEC Championship? Did they not witness Milrose running all over the D? As far as I can tell he did nothing much different. Why it took 11/2 qts to finally contain him, who knows. Beck need to spend more time in the film (video) room reading D's. And Bobo, get the qb under center particularly in short yardage.
