The running backs aren’t having the greatest of games because a) the line isn’t doing much to make holes for them, which is likely because b) Bobo’s plays have become pretty predictable. It seems like Monken’s notes in the playbook are starting to fade. Of course, there’s always c) which is that the line has had to rotate so much, it’s difficult to establish a gel between them all.

*** (moving on from quote response) ***

    1. I’m definitely not sold on Yurosek - from the stands, it looked like he had no idea that first target was intended for him at all; dude just kept running forward with no idea a ball had been thrown behind him.

    2. I got more impressed with Smith as the game went on, but wasn’t surprised at the first drop.

    3. At one point, I looked to my wife and said “Kirby better not have #%#% to say about the crowd today!” (GO DAWG NATION!)

    4. Secondary (and the D as a way, really) was mostly caught off guard, I think. Yes, it’s a freshman in his second game. That means… … … we know nothing about him. Remember when Tua got subbed in for Hurts? Or even when Nussmeier got subbed in in the SECCG against LSU a few years ago? Those guys rolled pretty quickly. Intel is important. Now, don’t get me wrong; once they learned he could throw, they should have adjusted, but they didn’t, and the receivers just beat them.

Anyway, as frustrating as it was at times, most things did actually look good. The problem is that the moments that looked bad had considerable effects.

Secondary was an F, and that isn’t close or on a curve.

    They were terrible.

Some of that is on the front seven not getting any pressure or whiffing on sacks or TFL on that true freshman QB of MSU.

    Offensive line was a C-pass

Blocking is only half of the game-Ettienne and Frazier are studs, and they are duds so far this year because the backup center and the backup LG and RG are terrible at run blocking.

Beck had two interceptions dropped by the opposing team. Beck needs to stop turning the ball over in the opponents red zone, like yesterday. You are killing your team with that decision making.

The TE’s on this team need to 🛑 fumbling the football!!!!!!!!

And for Pete’s sake, block somebody!!!

And the penalties! Ugh! I cannot wait until #32 is out of eligibility. Seriously.

It's painful to watch this team play.

Could get real **** next week based upon what we've seen in this team to date. Defensive secondary is a train wreck. This is a good team but not a great team. We could end up in the lower ten or just beyond by the end of the year. Go Dawgs!

You celebrate every win so congrats on that. I think most of our struggles start on the Offensive and Defensive lines. I know injuries have taken a toll on both and NIL has really hurt our depth but you play the hand you're dealt. Earnest Green really seemed to struggle and Truss had a dumb penalty for a veteran player. D line seems to be getting healthier so hopefully we can start getting more pressure on the QB. Gonna have to get better for this next stretch on schedule. I do have faith that Kirby and his staff will coach em up. No matter what, GO DAWGS!

Good thing we do not play Vanderbilt this season. This team, especially the O line and the secondary are just plain bad. None of the units are playing any where close to elite. Texas and Tennessee will toast our defensive backs if they do not tighten up. Florida's freshman QB is much improved and could also light us up if we are not better. You know it's bad when over a third of the rushing yards came on one play. Etienne with 35 yards FOR THE GAME. Can you say weak?

I'd add to your first point that I believe we've become too reliant on Etienne. While he's very good, I don't think he's the "wonder weapon" that CKS and Bobo (and many in the media) appear to think he is. In fact, I can see in Kirby's public comments even HE thinks the ball should be spread around to more RBs… I guess with Arian Smith and a few others being unpredictable at catching the ball, they also have to dial-up Etienne there, just for reliability sake. But on the run itself, I think Frazier and even Cash are ready to be even more explosive… the spate of RB (and OL) injuries sure isn't helping :(

"isn’t doing much to make holes for them, which is likely because b) Bobo’s plays have become pretty predictable.".

I have been thinking about this same thing for a couple weeks. It doesn't matter if your O is predictable IF you have a great OL. You can dare the D to stop you, take your chances and just bludgeon everybody to death. The problem is UGA doesn't have a great OL this year.

I am all for ball control O and wearing other teams out. BUT you have to be able to have explosive plays and some element of surprise/deception in your O. Bobo and the UGA O is too predictable.

CKS has said "This is what we do. Try and stop us". That is obsolete thinking. Too much talent on O to not be more imaginative with the play calling.

Entienne is a force! If not for him we wouldn't have arunning game becasue the O-line can't open up anything on a consistent basis or even semi-conisstently. Virtually everything he gets is due to his ability to make defenders waithing in the gaps whiff. Even the late TD there was nothing there at the point of attack and looked like he would be stopped with no gain but he willed himself into the endzone with a strength that belies his smallish physique. Its ashame too becauase if he was running behingd a good O-line he would be putting up big time stats.

The interception at the goal line looked to me to be on CB. Don't know what he saw because the defender was always in front of Luckie.

I commented on the article about the DB's getting more aggressive now. I said yeh. now instead of playing off the receivers 10 yards they would now only play off of them 7 yards. Someone down voted me. Face palm.

Tell me where we are good as we thought we would be going into the season?

Tell me where we are as good as we thought we would be after the Clemson game?

    Offensive line? No.

    Defensive line? No.

    Secondary? Hell no.

The list could go on, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

    Go, Dawgs!

These are very generous grades particularly with respect to the Secondary, Inside Linebackers and OL (lack of explosive run blocking drags the score down to a C+).

I see a lot of Dawg fans talking about “fixing” things before we play Texas. Really? We’re midway through the season and we’re making Week 1 errors. Some personnel decisions are a real head scratcher. You mean staff couldn’t see until midseason that Anthony Evans III would be a valuable asset on offense? How much additional evidence does staff need before admitting that #6 has no business being on the field?

Yep we’re 5-1, but the standard is HIGH and the things that need to be “FIXED”, should have been dealt with long before now.
