Georgia CFP trajectory takes hit with 28-10 loss to Ole Miss, latest ESPN projection
Kirby Smart has said many times “humility is one week away” in the SEC, and now his Georgia football team is experiencing just that.

It's just astounding to me how much Beck has regressed from 2023. Usually, QB's improve pretty dramatically from year one as a starter to year two. Multiple games this year, he's been either a non-issue or the factor holding the offense back from what it could be.
It possibly won’t matter because if Georgia plays against tenn like it did last night, Georgia won’t be going to the playoffs. With the way things are playing out, a 3 loss Georgia team won’t make the playoffs despite this difficult schedule. Every aspect of this team needs to take a good long hard look in the mirror this week and decide how they want to finish this season. Never thought I’d see another Georgia team coached by Kirby play like a Donnan or Goff team, but they did last night. Not prepared for the game or the weather. Out coached, out played and out hustled.
Our performances are getting progressively worse. After last night’s performance we should not be ranked in the top 12. The CFP says it wants the best teams. We are not one of the best 12. That is the stone cold reality of our situation. Honesty is brutal sometimes.
The team this season is so Jekyll and Hyde. We played so well against Clemson, Texas and 2nd half of Bama but other than that, not really a Kirby Smart dominant team. Offensive line couldn't pass or run block. Outside of the first series, where was the pressure on the Ole Miss QBs? Our CBs and Safeties were also playing too far off the Ole Miss WRs making it easy for them to make catch after catch after catch.
Do we really want to see this team in the playoffs?
Saw a ranking where 4 of the top 5 teams were from the BIG10. The SEC teams are beating up on each other. Best argument against adding a 9th SEC conference game to the schedule is playing out before our eyes. The BIG10 may only have 1 bye team but could end up with 3 home games ($$$) in the 1st rd of the playoffs.
This team was derailed by absences (injuries and suspensions). 2 top RB's, 2 top WR's and preseason All American OG all missing all/most of the season. Not to mention the most impactful defensive players (#13 and #2) being reduced/limited.
In addition MANY (too many) recruits are not living up to the potential projections coming into the season. Very highly ranked DE/OLB's have not progressed or impacted the pass rush significantly. As for the safety position, teams are scheming to throw to Dan Jackson's man. Saw it for years in the NFL with Dallas Cowboys CB Anthony Brown. Every 3rd down pass went to the man Anthony Brown was trying to cover. Usually with success. That is why Jackson has so many tackles. Teams are going to his man. With a lot of success.
