I think we are not asking the right questions. The right question, at this point, is not the comparison of UGA vs UT, but the comparison among UGA, Alabama and Tenn. All 3 teams are 2 losses, and 1-1 against each other, but why Alabama ranks ahead of the other 2?

Unfortunately, there won't be many opportunities to shake things up between now and Dec. 8.

The only ranked-vs-ranked games among the top 10 are likely to be Indiana vs Ohio State, Oregon vs Ohio State, and the SEC Championship. So there may not be a lot of shuffling of the top 10 by the time the field is picked.

If Georgia plays anything like it did against Tennessee, we ought by rights to be sixth or fifth seed at the end of the season.

But Penn State currently resides at No. 6, and they'll be difficult to dislodge as they continue to march through their powder-puff schedule.

Of course, it's college football, so you never know.

That's easy. They think losing to Vandy and Tennessee is better than losing to Ole Miss and Alabama.

“Even with the strength of schedule we have to rely on how teams are playing and who who they are playing as well as how the other teams, regardless of strength of schedule, are playing their opponent. We look at it holistically …”

But shouldn’t good teams playing a weaker schedule have better stats? Should they look like world beaters? Basically he says SOS matters while completely ignoring the effect it has for teams with the tougher schedules.

Given the current seeding Dawgs might have the opportunity to make an emphatic statement regarding Ole Miss and Texas as they did against TCU and Florida State.

He should have kept his mouth shut.

This is embarrassing. It's also hogwash.

    Go, Dawgs!

I actually like Peter burns bracket and his comment on Georgia. The dawgs would revenge the loss to ole Miss then again face bama in the natty. Actually a perfect scenario.

Bottom line: Wins and losses are emphasized much more than SOS. Therefore, pray for an easier regular season schedule, because who you play matters less than whether you win or lose.

The rankings are too subjective to be fair honestly.

They clearly don't value SOS, and he doesn't do a good job lying about it.

This guy is a lying fool. How did he become chair with so many infractions and sanctions against his program. No ethics, no morals.

To start my comment, I have a few opinions. First, week 1 and 2 results should have little significant bearing on anything except head-to-head. Teams, rankings, etc haven’t really started to develop. Claims that one team beat someone else those weeks just don’t really mean that much. Second, any road win is a good win (Indiana at Mich) and a road win blowout is a great win (UGA at Tex). Third, every team will suffer a down week or two, and how those teams handle them is important (UGA and Tex vs Ms St and Ore vs Wiscy). With that being said, I have issue with about teams in the rankings and where they stand. One is not Indiana. Sure, they have a really weak SOS, but they’ve trucked everyone except aforementioned Mich. How would they do on a neutral field vs SEC team? Don’t know, but we’ll get some idea Saturday. One is also not Notre Dame (I hate to say this). They had the NIU disaster but see my comment about weeks 1 and 2. They’ve been impressive and improving in just about every game since. I’m on the fence with Texas as they don’t really have any really good wins and got pushed by a bad Ms St and mediocre Arkansas. If they lose to aTm I think they could be out. Of course, they could win their way in with winning that game and playing well in SECCG. Two teams I have real issue with are Penn St and Miami. I’ve watched PSU a couple times and IMO they looked bad 1st half with USC, and the tOSU game was much more one-sided than the score. Their D kept them in it, but their offense was putrid. Miami has a bad defense, and I think they’ll get exposed again in ACCCG vs SMU. Finally, I think the committee is waiting until after next week to really bring in SOS. Once the last few games play out, they’ll adjust their focus.
