could’ve potentially gotten 400yds and 4TDs with 10+ win. Now he’s probably about 500yds and 4TDs and 6 wins.
Maybe somebody down there can teach him how to block.
When you take 28-30 new freshmen every commitment cycle 2 things are true. 1) you are taking a few flyers on players that have potential but may not develop. 2) you wont have room to add 28-30 new players (plus transfers) unless players that have not developed leave to make room for the new players.
Anthony Evans fits into both of those categories. Evans has not developed to the point where he could be a consistent contributor.
I’d love to be a “fly on the wall” in all the meetings between coaches and players. I’m confident that many of the players who hit the portal are encouraged to do so by the coaches. The departures are frequently good for the athletes and free up scholarships for our Dawgs to pursue better players. This is a classic example where we lost Evans, Williams and Haynes, but gained 2 better receivers in Branch and Thomas. To me it feels like everyone is a winner and we improved our roster. Go Dawgs!!!

Evans has not developed to the point where he could be a consistent contributor"……Spot on UGADad20, in his time as a Dawg AEIII has earned enough cred to be a Big Fish in a very small pond in Starkville….Plus he will never have anyone on his azz about blocking….he'll rack up 500 plus yards maybe and get his shot at the NFL….as far as NIL, I'm sure he walked away from more at UGA but if he shines as a Miss St Dog maybe he can make it up???
Does the SEC not have a rule about playing right away after an intraconference transfer?
I'm taking the other side of this argument. Designing plays whose success/failure depends on a WR (any WR) blocking on the edge is asking for disappointment. Calling those plays in the red zone is asking for even more disappointment. Was there no other way to scheme Etienne free and clear? Do we design plays predicated on the right guard running at 4.4 40 speed to get to the second level block on a safety? Don't get me started on the WR screens …
Seeing where he's going, this is clearly a situation where he was allowed to pursue other opportunities. I wish him the best of luck in the next chapter, but it tells me we should see our WR room improve significantly.
