Kirby Smart knows the problems with the Georgia football offense go deeper than just Mike Bobo

Bottom line for the offense is we have have to stay healthy and block better. Especially at the tackle position. Go Dawgs!
“A lot of that has to do with health and the schedule we play and having some playmakers that can make some plays, too,” Smart said following the loss to Notre Dame.
That's it? I assure you that all of the teams, with the exception of the Dawgs and SMU, in the playoffs had similar issues and that didn't hold them to 10 points. Kirby has nothing to say about Bobo's history with other teams before coming home? Loyalty has its place, but to the detriment of the Dawgs?
I believe that the offense will improve in 2025, maybe even back to 40 points a game. There are some maulers on the OL that are going to play a lot of snaps this spring. There will be some different names on the starting OL when it all shakes out. Protect Gunnar, catch the ball,(these talented new receivers will be trying to make a name for themselves), and learn how to run block. That should do it. The front seven on D is what worries me. Kirby needs to quit whining about the schedule and get these top rated recruits ready to play ball.
Bobo was not the main offensive issue last season. Sure, his play calling was pretty vanilla many times, but our execution was pathetic. You can't blame Bobo for that. When guys drop 36+ passes, don't hold their blocks, and your QB keeps throwing interceptions, then I'd say the main issue is players not doing their job. Add in key injuries that lingered for weeks, and a brutal schedule, and you've got a recipe for mediocre offensive results.
The coaches need to figure out how to neutralize the running QB thus generating more possessions for the offense. The more possessions you have the better opportunity there is to reach that 40pt/gm threshold. Whatever scheme the coaches are running to defend against teams with mobile QB', it's not working.
For those long term dawg fans that really know football, it was pretty predictable offense at times. We'd miss a first down pass and then about 90% you knew a run up the middle was coming. But in defense to Bobo we got beat of the offensive line so many times it wasn't funny.
Bobo needs to be replaced. It’s obvious. At times, the play calling is very good. At other times it’s mind boggling. More significantly, game planning is often not good as shown by halftime adjustments resulting in better second half play calling. And, of course, there’s the worst idea ever in deciding to attempt a 75 yard drive with 29 seconds left in the half against ND. As I told my fellow Dawg fan as the offense took the field with those 29 seconds remaining, “Just take a knee and get to the half down 6-3.” I quickly added, “If anybody can screw this up, it’s us.” Then we did exactly that. Costs us the game.
Kirby shares the blame. He has a headset provided for his use absolutely free. If I’m the head honcho, I’m on the headset saying, “Take a knee here. Let’s not do anything ****. 6-3 at half is ok.”
As is often said, “It ain’t complicated, it’s football.”
Apparently saying “Let’s not do anything s t u p i d” is not allowed. Now that’s really s t u p i d!
yes, ChawlieDawg88, the o-line needs to play better. That’s why I would also replace Searles. Didn’t like that hire from the get-go. He was mediocre under Richt and at UNC after that.
UGA's offensive problems may go deeper than Mike Bobo, but they surely start with Mike Bobo. As the OC, he is actually responsible for all pieces of the offense from the recurits to their development to the asst coaches to the game plans and changes during the games. Bobo has demonstrated — twice now — that on his best day he is mediocre. If Smart is too stubborn to replace his friend and buddy, then the Dawgnation will suffer as another nattty will be flat unobtainable.
Need better recruiting and coaching at OL. It’s been going downhill steadily in the past 2-3 years. Pass pro was problematic but the bigger issue was the inability to open up holes consistently. Ranked 101st in yds/gm running last year. That’s just not Georgia football
What would i like to see from Offense; a little more creativity and a whole lot more GOOD consistency
Say what you will about Bobo as OC but let's face it, it seemed every big game the offense had the life **** out of it by the dropped passes and wrong route running. I am a huge Buster Faulkner fan and would love to see him come home but that being said about Bobo, the problems on offense last year aren't entirely on him. His offense performed pretty well the year before with receivers who could CATCH the ball. Wide receiver development was atrocious. If that falls under Bobo's job description then perhaps it is on him but to the best of my knowledge it wasn't him that chose our Receivers Coach, I could be wrong.
I agree with all of you who think the OL is our weakest link. I really don’t buy into the “injury” argument because Ohio State and Notre Dame had even greater issues with OL injuries. How can we have 3 OL predicted to be selected in the upcoming NFL draft and still have one of the lowest ranked OL in the conference? I think it all points to Stacy Searels and if there isn’t massive improvement in our line play next season then Kirby needs to replace him ASAP. Go Dawgs!!!
