Walker’s draft stock shouldn’t be too negatively impacted by the injury and delayed workout. He is still widely seen as one of the top draft prospects in this year’s class.

JWalker is a good player with a good motor. He is a solid citizen with very good potential at the next level. His height measurement at the combine hurt his draft position. At 6'1" he does not fit the NFL size profile for a pass rushing edge. At his height he may be more of a traditional 4-3 LB or 3-4 OLB with some rush responsibilities.

Nolan Smith was taller, faster, as heavy and was viewed as a better pass rusher at the CFB level. He was taken late in Rd 1 and has had modest success (though improved yr 1 to yr 2) on the NFL level.

NFL teams have to be wondering now where to play Walker. It will be interesting to watch where Walker and TN Edge James Pierce are picked, by teams looking for pass rushers, in this draft. Pierce ran a faster 40 than Walker and measured 6'5" 245 lb. As a pro prospect it would seem that Pierce would be a player teams (like the Falcons) would reach a little for.

Expecting the Falcons to make a good draft decision is unrealistic.
