Again I understand this is the nature of the beast now but he’s not at UGA so who cares.
Sustaining mediocrity thru attrition. So instead of a very seasoned team next year we're going to see another young, inexperienced, mistake laden product on the court. Sounds like a 8-10 SEC ceiling and if we're lucky, a first round quick exit in the BIG dance to look forward to?
When I fist started reading this, I immediately assumed Godfrey must be from SC. Maybe he was making a business decision and thinking about life after basketball. But he’s actually from GA?! I’m sure he has his reasons, but I just don’t get it. College athletics are broken—and becoming more and more of a cautionary tale (and a joke)—yet I still find myself seeking at least a nugget of reason in some of these situations.
@brvhrt Ats you not familiar with Randall Godfrey ? Legend
“We’ve just got to continue to recruit high-level players and high-level people”
Translation: “We’ve got to raise more money than the other guy so we can pay these amateur athletes better than professionals so we can keep them longer than a year and not allow them to move around on a whim rather than be forced to honor a contract as professionals are required because we broke college athletics beyond repair.”
Adios RJ—enjoy that final year in that "paradise"—-Clemson, South Carolina.
