Column: Kirby Smart finding Georgia football answers, can QB position be elite?

The 2025 Georgia football team is not a finished product by any stretch, and this second transfer portal window (April 16-25) bears watching with some programs looking to front-load with big offers with the House v. NCAA settlement pending.

It's alwas funny to hear comments like, "It's going to be vanilla." So, as to keep other teams from knowing what you're going to do in certain situations this coming sesaon. Like there's not film from all of last season.
A scrimmage is just a scrimmage. And of course no team is going to expose the hand full of plays that are saved for just the right time.
Might be worth tuning(some opposition research) in if we had a new OC or DC but we don't. Also, the other teams have HS film on all the newbies. THey recruited them too.
Bobo hasn't reinvented offensive football, that's for sure. JUst trying to fiure out how we can do it better than last year.
Watchout for the spies!-
Dang Gunner is the same height as Kirby?
I just don't feel excited about Gunner….
I’ll just say this What If Gunner would have had an O Line that can block And receivers that Caught the ball Consistently. Might not vs ND been a different game ?? Maybe we’ll get that answer this year. Go Dawgs !!
Probably so, as I feel Carson would have won the game somehow against ND.
I would say that I'm excited to watch G-Day, but since it isn't televised…
I respectfully disagree. NOT knocking on Carson as I appreciate his contributions while he was at UGA. But the O Line blocking was Horrible vs ND !! Gunner would have got sacked even more if it hadn’t been for his mobility.
And the usual culprit of receivers dropping passes showed up that day as well. I don’t think Carson would’ve faired much better. But just my opinion. I believe Gunner is gonna make Dawgs fans really proud IF the O Line is better this year. That’s a huge task as we lost allot of good guys off the line. And the receivers get open and Catch the dawg gone ball more consistently. Just think the Dawgs had the most drops in CFB. Mind boggling !!
Gunner and Carson are two totally different QBs in allot of ways. I could be very wrong wouldn’t be the first time. But again if this O Line is Some better at pass pro and opening holes for our RBs. And receivers get separation and Catch the ball I think Gunner will Really thrive !! We’ll see………
Hey those of you that attend the G Day game please come back here and give us the scoop of what you saw !! Makes me so sad and sick that it won’t be televised. 😥
I would tend to agree with you. The UGA playbook would have been expand offensively AND defensively with a more experienced QB in play.
But CBeck was not doing that much vs TX before he was injured. I do think UGA woulda had a better chance to win vs ND with a more experienced CBeck QB'ing.
One BIG thing GS has going for him is 3 (?) years of being in the offense and practicing vs a very good SEC D. That has got to mean something. CBeck hit the ground running in '23. Can GS do the same?
I hope that is a picture from freshman year or maybe a HS visit? Stockton listed at 6'1" but doesn't look to be much taller than SBIV.
In this photo, Jackson Muschamp #16 and GUnner and Stetson all look more or less the same height. IMHO Gunner looks slightly shorter than SB. I think SB measured just shy of 6 ft. at the combine by a 1/4 inch if memory serves me right. MUschamp is listed at 6'2" but if you compare him to Carson BEck you see that can't be right. https://flywareagle.com/2023/02/17/auburn-football-rival-qb-join/
