Kirby Smart is dealing with perhaps the youngest and newest groups he’s ever had — the 10th-year head cited 25 mid-year enrollees and six transfers — there’s a lot of heavy lifting ahead.

There’s a car dealer down in South Georgia ( I guess he’s still there) that would always say “ Talk To Me !!” in his advertisements !! So those of you that went to the game please by all means Talk To Me !! 😀 I have this mental picture that Both Stockton & Puglisi threw allot of deep passes. Did they throw many short passes or intermediate passes ?? If so how well did the receivers catch those type passes ??

How quickly and effectively did receivers get separation from defenders ?? Did receivers run their routes pretty smooth ??

How often were any RBs thrown to and did they catch the ball ??
If it had been a Real game how many QB sacks do you think would’ve happened ??
It seems to me that with Both Stockton & Puglisi there was allot of emphasis on throwing deep and it seems they were pretty effective in that regard. Both seem to have ample arm strength is that correct ?? Did dropped passes stand out or did they seem some what diminished ??
Everybody has opinions about the Dawgs during the season and of course I have mine. I sure wish GDay would’ve been televised so I could form my own opinions. But alas it has come and gone. But as I’ve already posted we’ve ALL seen radical differences good, bad, or in between comes Real Game time, so we shouldn’t read to much into G Day. The fundamentals of football are still pretty much the same. I’m gonna continue to trust in Kirby that he’ll have Em ready by season start. Sad to see G Day fade away into history. This might well have been the last one. 😥

I confess, I didn't see the G-Day "game", but I just don't follow these grades. I mean, you're saying Stockton is not as good as Beck based on 1 1/2 games played. He may not be as good as Beck, but I don't think that's something we could know at this point. You brag on last year's offensive line but by any standard or measure, that unit vastly underperformed. I don't believe this year's line has to perform that much better to exceed what last year's group did. And you're giving the secondary big upside based on K.J. Bolden. Though he played well last year, he was far from perfect, and will have to still go some to get to the level of Starks. And based on how you graded the quarterbacks, seems like you would be just as harsh on these (somewhat) unproven DB's. Time will tell about the running backs, but I think Nate Frazier will prove to be better, overall, than Etienne. Granted, Etienne didn't get much help from an underperforming O-Line, but he also didn't look like the guy who used to scare me when we played Florida. I think Frazier, if he learns how to control and channel his emotions, will become a Bulldog great. Go Dawgs!

@DallasDawg I agree with your take here. I’m not knocking on Beck as I appreciate his contributions but I don’t think it’s a fair comparison for now.

I could be Very wrong and it sure wouldn’t be the first time BUT and IF Gunner gets Decent protection from the O Line And receivers Catch the balls that Should be caught I think Gunner will do Really well. In the game vs ND the O Line was letting him be slaughtered back there !! Had it not been for Gunner’s mobility he might well have gotten injured !!

AND though not quite as bad as in some previous games there were still some critical drops when the ball was right on them. YES Gunner made some poor throws in that game as well. But when the ball is put right on a receiver they need to Catch it !!

Also we need at least one of those Robinson boys back Fully healthy, Both would be even better. That’s until Bowens, Walker, and Phillips can get some Real game snaps. With Nate Frazier leading the charge and Cash Jones to assist we will be fine at RB. Not to mention they plan to rotate Dillon Bell in at RB some as well.

The G-Day was as All G-Days are very, very basic football no digging into the playbook. I’m sure those big TE’s will be used more in Real games especially against the more competitive teams. Speaking just for Me. I’m pleased with the three QBs we have actually four if you count Drake. And I believe we are much better off at receiver now.

The bottom line for Me is the O Line. They can make the QBs and RBs look good or bad depending on their play. Like you I wasn’t overly impressed with last years O Line to inconsistent. They’ll be ready by game time I’m confident. Go Dawgs !!

I heard there were a ton of batted down passes at the line of scrimmage.I suppose that might be expected due to the D-line not being able to tackle the QB's. I don't know if it was mostly on Gunner or on Puglisi, too.

When I look at this team on paper, I see a lot of talent and inexperience. This team has the most question marks since the Dawgs won the NC in 2022. That team had a lot of question marks coming into the 2021 season, but they had leaders on offense, such as James Cook, Zamir White, and on the Oline. In addition, Chris Smith, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean on defense. Who will emerge as the leaders of this team? They are incredibly talented, but they'll need on-field leadership when the games get tough.

Good comments. The one thing we keep seeing in the vast majority of comments is O Line. They Have to protect who ever is QB. And they Have to open holes for the RBs. And they Must do both of these things much more consistently than we saw last year. The Young Talent is there but can they be coached up to SEC competition ? I sure Hope so and I’m gonna Believe in them until they give me reason not to !!

“Stockton is said to be a great leader, but his teammates haven’t played better around him.”

Really? So the obvious spark I saw when Gunner came in for Beck in the second half of the SEC Championship didn’t actually happen? IMO, if Beck doesn’t get hurt, we lose that game. So it appears his teammates did play better around him, at least in that game.
