Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Georgia football lands Army outside linebacker Elo Modozie

Georgia football dips into transfer portal to land Army outside â¦

Also added DT Joshua Horton of Miami & RB Josh McCray of Illinois!
awesome news. We also added 2 more tonight.
The good news is UGA got 3 transfers. The bad news is that it looks like UGA will miss out on NC's OLB Beau Atkinson and Syracuse's DT Shedrick Smith, with these additions.
How does a guy transfer from Army?
I was wondering the same about how you transfer from an armed forces school (Army, Air Force, Navy). I thought when you committed to any of those 3 schools, it was a mandatory 4 year stint, before being classified and sent on to serve your duty after college.
I believe if you’re >two years in, you’re GTG…on the Army Transfer
Cadets/Middies don't incur the service commitment until the first academic day of their Junior year.
Indeed.
One of my best roommates at UGA transferred to Georgia from West Point. He went on to a PhD at Berkeley and then medical school at MCG.
Go, Dawgs!
Thanks for the clarification, I never knew their service commitment didn't start until the beginning of their Junior year at an Armed Forces school.
UGADad20—-Why do you feel like we've lost out on Atkinson(other than numbers), I heard he was coming?
I didn't hear if he was coming or not. Just seems unlikely that UGA would have room or pay for 2 OLB. What would that tell Q or GHarris?
My guess is the Army OLB better fit the UGA salary structure. Just like the NFL, "name" free agents (Atkinson) want to break the bank with their signing. UGA got good pressure and production w/o upsetting the locker room dynamic or breaking the bank.
Also, you know that Army OLB will be disciplined and fit the UGA culture.
Injuries are part of this sport. The dawgs needed another talented guy. Probably two, but they like the young guys coming up.
