What social media is saying about Georgia football after Jackson Cantwell commits to Miami

I wish the kid well, but he's not winning anything at the U. I'm not sold on Beck as their next Cam Ward first and foremost. Then there's that putrid defense. Even in off years Georgia will have the guys that he would be sharpening his skills against. But each to his own.
I don’t believe for a second that money wasn’t the underlying factor.
$$$$$ nothing more..DAWGS have probably put more OL in the NFL, (definitely way more players) in the past 5 years than Miami has in the past 10 years (i wouldnt be suprised if UGA had more OL drafted than miami did total players in the draft this year lol)..so its not about his BS development "narrative" that he claims. Coincidentally, Missouri is the "show me (the money) state"..
Apparently I was wrong, Cantwell was never a "Georgia Guy"…ie: he opted for quick cash rather than skill development, championships and the opportunity to earn more via a well paid future being a first rounder in the NFL …..I'm thinkin The Hick from Nixa will have a hard time focusing on football in the land of Lambos, loose thongs, and lecherous leisure time…..since The Dawgs have outstanding success with guys named Malaki…. and Athens is a whole lot warmer than Ann Arbor, plus he seems curious about becoming a DGD, I'd set my sights on this Hawaiian He-Man……Malakai Lee!
It’s the MONEY. Yes, I have a keen grasp of the obvious.
Sure, any high school kid looking to play big-time-college football would pick Miami over Ohio State, Oregon, and UGA. 😏
If we have to miss on a 5 star I’d rather it be an O Lineman than say a QB, RB, or WR. Win some Lose some. We’ll win on the next one. And who knows might see this guy in the TP later. Go Dawgs !!
I wish the young man well, and don’t fault him for taking the money. If the reports are correct he’ll earn more in one year than most people earn over a lifetime. Obviously, hiring an agent indicates it’s about the money, but when college football decided to be like the NFL they had to expect the players to want to be compensated like NFL players. Conferences are getting hundreds of millions, schools are getting tens of millions and coaches are getting ten+ million a year; The powers that be had to know players, who everyone pays to see, would want their part of the pie. When the conferences, schools and coaches decided to make money the number one priority, the players were going to make money their number one priority.
Once I heard Drew Rosenhaus was involved this conclusion was predictable. Rosenhaus is an NFL agent . In the NFL there is a system designed to promote parity. Obviously there are personal preferences to be in LA , Mia or NY instead of Cle, Det or GB. But the system is designed for each team to have an equal chance to win. So agents advise players to take the money.
CFB is not like that. So for Cantwell practicing against NFL defenders daily and playing top competition in meaningful games was not the top of his list. Can't blame him. That is a lot of money to say no to and an easier path to the NFL.
A 3 yr vacation in Miami before moving on to the NFL. And THAT was the vibe from this kid since we started taking a closer look the last few weeks. There was more talk about business and branding than football. I'm not sure he would have done well at UGA w/o a lot of growing up.
Also, that entitlement attitude and apparent desire to coast would not have played well in the UGA locker room from a player making as much as he is making. Not likely to start YR 1 this whole situation just didn't seem to fit in the UGA culture.
OT is turning into a very high dollar NIL position. This leaves UGA in a precarious spot for OT for the '26 class.
When people tell you "It's not about the money"; It's always about the money. if it's not about the money then why hire an agent. Wish the young man well at "The U".
How much has $$$$ ruined college football so far? So predictable.
Go, Dawgs!
UGA will always get their guys. The U will get their dudes as well. I think Beck will still struggle with consistency because that's who he is. For every throw on the button, the next 3 of them are off target. I remember when Stafford was QB he threw such a hot ball that guys would drop them because he threw them with such velocity. Beck is too streaky. Miami and UGA are in two different tiers. I hate the money thing, but for all of Cantwell's boasts about pancake blocks and domination, he had a chance to prove it against the best players in college football. Miami recruiting is barely top 20 the last 5 years. UGA is top 2. I hope he does well and stays injury free. I also hope he plays UGA down the road.
I got a question.…Why in the natural hell, can a kid keep a contract for playing in an FBS/NCAA school...."Confidential".
There should be no such thing as the word "confidential", when it comes to this NIL BS. If they're gonna "compensate" these kids….It should be 100% TRANSPARENT.
Too much room for cheating....not to mention, the fact that voters contribute to most of these institutions and have every right to transparency.
How else are the taxpayers gonna know whether they need to send their Representatives to Washington?
In order to have Congress change, modify or eliminate certain aspects of this "group of laws, rules & strong suggestions", that seem to be set in jello....and, the guiding light for College Sports. Lol
How else will the voting public and concerned citizens that support these Institutions, know whether things are getting out of hand (Lol)?....If we don't have complete transparency.
IMO....That's been the resounding problem in our country, for a long time. Decisions & Opinions, based on faulty data.…are counterproductive.
Exactly....sometimes, when you win, you actually lose. And, sometimes when you lose...you actually win. IMO...this couldn't be more true, than it is in recruiting. Lol
And, in the case of Cantwell, Miami & UGA.…I question any kid with a good head on his shoulders....that would pick Miami.
But...it might not have been Jackson that did the picking. Might've been Mr. Cantwell....lookin' for a little Miami action, with a couple of Million to spread around.
Hope they know what they're doing. Miami will chew up those good folks from the flyover State...and, spit em out the backside when they're done with em. Lol
I'm just sayin'....no kid of mine would attend Miami. If there was ANY other choice. Mr. Cantwell, clearly had some very attractive alternatives.
Who knows....maybe I'm wrong. Maybe, they are the stuff Hurricanes are made of. Guess we'll either, see his name on the arrest sheets or transfer sheet, soon. If it's the latter....UGA could still wind up getting him.
I would be more than curious to know if Miami upped the ante in response to a suspected Drew Rosenhaus' ploy to send his client back to UGA for one more visit.
I've reconsidered….though I'd never close the door on any out of state OT behemoth like Malakai Lee, the Dawgs need to refocus on our in state behemoths…..afterall, I'd put Georgia HS against the other "Best in the land" Texas/Ohio as producing outstanding athletes…plus, these guys have grown up in DAWG NATION……57 6-A schools, 61 5-A schools, 61 4-A schools, 63 4-A schools, 63 3-A's. 58 2-A's and 78 A's D-1 and 80 D-2 A's……. out of 456 GAHS programs, there are bound to be 5-10 well fed physical specimens matching ole Jackson that are incline to put in the work to become DGD's!
