- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Numbers show home-grown seniors are dwindling for Georgia football in transfer portal era

Kirby Smart knows the 2025 Georgia football team will be a young one. Thatâs the reality due in part to transfer portal, where fewer and fewer players make it to year three or even year four with a program.

KS knows…..building a championship football program is dependent upon building relationships…..relationships die at the hands of the TP….unrestricted, promises and NIL dollars sway young immature minds to supposed greener pastures, only to leave the youngman under/undeveloped, and a reputation absent of team loyalty and personal integrity…..I, for one, would only allow transfer after a 2 year commitment had been satisfied. You're still going to have transfers but at least a relationship has been established and a truer picture of the players potential exist. After two years it will become evident if the player "fits" the culture and expectations of his team or is there a more suitable team that fits the players potential and expectations?
Get used to it, its the new norm in college football..some never make it to year 2 in a program, much less 3 or 4.

Just call me a Believer. I believe that though Yes allot of youth on this team, it’s allot of very Talented youth. I believe they can and will win Allot. How high they go I don’t know. But potential wise the sky’s the limit !! Go Dawgs !!
Not sure if this is the new norm in college football or the new norm at UGA? True that "new" transfer rules allow unprecedented mobility to college athletes and has resulted in a seeming revolving door at many places.
It has been a trend at UGA for a while. UGA recruits a lot of very talented HS players. If they don't play immediately MOST start to look around. So UGA has to play the young players some. Many/some pass older players on the depth chart and those older players leave. The really good UGA players seem to leave after 3 seasons at UGA. That is the problem for UGA/CKS. Under that model UGA will always be fielding a young team.
Some teams ('24 OSU, '24 ND) have been better able to retain older, more advanced/developed players. Those types of teams seem to do well in the playoffs and seem to give the younger teams trouble.
