And, if you listen closer — especially these days — the two former collegiate defensive backs and current college head coaches are singing some similar tunes on the effects of the transfer portal.

Another excellent MG article, full of lots of data, not just talk. I'd love to see Kirby and Deion collaborate to have influence across the NCAA

And why do we care about the opinion of the most over-hyped coach of the last 10 years? Deion hype is a product of today's media which focus on the squeaky wheel vs substantive stories. The head coach at GT is 100 times the coach Deion will ever be yet no national stories about him. Or maybe the turnaround at Syracuse that Fran Brown has engineered? So many great coaches, none of which spew the garbage coming out of Deions media machine. You can do better.

You mean there's intrigue, double-crossing, foul-play, and cheating when you put lots of money in front of 17 year olds? Say it ain't so!!!

I don't particularly care for "Prime" but I believe he's experienced quite a bit of humility in his time at Colorado….he seems to have come to reality when he expresses the same logical ideas as Kirby…..a much better way to use his "LOUD MOUTH"…..Generally speaking, you can buy a championship, especially if you play in a cupcake conference….ie: TOS as opposed to TAM….. “It starts with getting good football players.”….a more important factor is the ability to blend these portal additions into cohesive TEAM oriented players which lifts every team member to play better…..CDDawg, your mention of Brent Key and Fran Brown is spot on…..these two along with Marcus Freeman are coaches on the rise.

NIL and the transfer portal has chased people away from college football. If I want to watch professional football, I'll watch the NFL. At least those guys have multi-year contracts they have to honor. The transfer portal is just musical chairs.

Remember the end of the Movie Cars, where Lightning McQueen says, yeah, I'll stick with these Rusteze guys. Long gone are the days in which you honor a commitment. Don't get me wrong, I do see both sides. Players feel they were given inflated hopes by coaches, only to be sidelined when they don't live up to expectations. Some, like Joe Burrow at Ohio State need a new opportunity. But how many times do we see a Bear Alexander or A D Mitchell leave a really good spot for money, forsaking honor and commitment. There's no way to legislate morality, but laws and rules are put in place to help weak minded youngsters from hurting themselves before they have time to grow up and see more of the reality of life. In our new NIL system, honoring a commitment is dead, and with it, our society grows weaker.

Most kids today are just committed to the money, not a school..The highest bidder gets my services until a better offer is thrown my way from another school..

@CDDawgs Brent Key's record as a head coach:

    4-4

    7-6

    7-6

This includes a 2 TD loss to 6-7 Virginia Tech and an 8 point loss to Vanderbilt in 2024, a 2 TD home loss to 7-6 Bowling Green in 2023, a 2 TD home loss to 7-6 Boston College that year also and another home loss to Virginia, the worst team in the ACC, in 2022. As well as being winless against mighty Louisville. And Georgia Tech is a traditionally winning program located in the most talent-rich area in the country. Actual good coaches get their rebuilding programs up to win the games that they should win while taking the beatings in games that they have no chance. Key gets his Tech up for FSU, Notre Dame, Miami and UGA - and loses those games 9 times out of 10 anyway, and then they come out flat against clearly lesser talented teams and lose. Tech fans will want him gone in a couple of years, but Tech won't have the funds in their money pit of an athletics department to fire him and hire another coach.

It is fine to dislike Sanders but please do not go making things up.

In looking at that listing of teams ranked by number of incoming transfer portal players, I noticed something. Most of them aren't that good. The only one that's been on the list multiple times and been consistently pretty good is Ole Miss.
