Juan Gaston pushes for starting spot on Georgia OL as true freshman: âHeâs hugeâ

Cade Mays was the last Bulldog to do so, all the way back in 2018. The last true freshman to start the season opener was Andrew Thomas. He went on to have an All-American career at Georgia before later becoming the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

I want to hear some reports about the left tackle position. I understand about the run game, but there are a few games on the schedule, and then post season that Stockton will have to be protected on that side when playing some of the top defenses. Notre Dame comes to mind.
As with Elijah Griffin, please let the best players play, regardless of tenure. Both Gaston and Griffin would eat Cade Mays for lunch. Go Dawgs!
Sounds like real potential if he can get conditioned.
I'm with rrt, I would like to hear about the tackle positions. Who's #2 there. How are they progressing. The number 1's aren't that great based on ND last year. I know, I know, supposedly they were hurt. Like to know who's pushing for playing time.
With 3 NFL draft picks from last year, not that they didnt have the talent, they did. They didn't mesh together because of coaching, injuries, and inexperience players playing at times because of injuries..just my opinion..GoDAWGS!
“Starting as a true freshman on Georgia’s offensive line is a lot like playing first base. It’s incredibly hard”
First bad and offensive line?? Don’t think I’ve ever heard that analogy.
Good job - I think.
Let this kid start. The other 2 can be backups. It's not like the O-line doesn't substitute through out the game, especially these first 2.
yeah Rusty Manziel from On3 and The Alumni Hall Podcast said this a few weeks ago and they expect him to be the starting LT by mid-season. They also said JJ Hanne true freshman has been playing with the ones on DL and causing some real problems for o-line. They are good listens if yall want to listen to other sources, in my opinion they are quicker and earlier with the news/stories. Probably have better insiders
