ATHENS â Georgia football has plenty to prove this season after 13 players were drafted into the NFL and quarterback Carson Beck transferred to Miami.

Lead Sportswriter and Editor of the Athletic, Stewart Mandel, picked the Dawgs to go 9-3 this season. Ouch. For a guy who is usually high on the Dawgs, this was a surprise. He doesn't think Stockton has the talent and moxie to take us to the promised land (along with all the questions surrounding the other aspects of the team). He's got Texas, Bama, LSU, and Texas A&M ahead of us in the SEC standings.
Very disrespectful…Gunner and the rest of the team need to prove him wrong!

Probably won’t see it as much the first 2 games because of the competition. But with a few games already under his belt, Gunner will make the defense play more honest and it will open up not only the run game, but the pass game as well.
Backers and edge guys will have to play both the run and pass. Gunner is a legit dual QB, couldn’t say that about the other guy…when he dropped back, you knew he would pass.
Gunner will bring out the best in his teammates, he’s a leader…at least from where I sit.
Down through the years there have been some games where it would be reasonable to say a loss was pretty much all on the QB. Though that scenario is pretty rare. So rare that I’d have to do some digging to be Honest and Reasonable to say a loss was pretty much All on the QB. I’m talking only Dawgs football here.
This said Gunner did NOT lose the ND game on his own. And I think if anyone is Honest and Reasonable they’d be compelled to say the same. The Offense as a unit including Gunner lost that game. The Defense performed considerably better than the O but even they didn’t have what you’d call a stellar game.
If Gunner loses a game where Dawgs fans as a majority can again as a majority say Honestly and Reasonably “ Gunner played Terrible and he was the main reason we lost that game”. I Will Be Totally Shocked if that happens. I just don’t see it.
I hope our Dawgs don’t lose Any games. But and If they do and it’s primarily Gunner’s fault I’ll be absolutely shocked and wonder if Gunner is playing injured.
Look I Know there’s a vast difference between HS to SEC football and SEC to NFL football. But most of the time a traditional Winner doesn’t just Stop being a Winner without some issue that can be readily tracked down.
Gunner was a Winner in HS he set stats records some of which as far as I know haven’t been broken. He’s been at UGA for what 3 years now. For him to go from a Winner to a Loser would have to be qualified by some tangible reason for me. The young man is a very hard worker Both KS and Bobo have stated such. He loves his teammates and by all accounts they love him. He’s hungry to Prove himself worthy.
NO I’m Not making excuses for him. If I see he loses a game mainly on him, I’ll call it that way.
Now he already has some Haters ( for what reasons I can’t begin to fathom) among Dawgs fans. One such seems to hate him on a personal basis. I don’t know why Mr. Sports Writer can so boldly proclaim Gunner a loser before the season even starts. But if He and these other Haters are proven wrong then He and They should have the guts to come here and Say they were wrong. These “experts” are wrong Allot of times.
If our Dawgs lose a game and 8 out of every 10 Dawgs fans say it was primarily on Gunner then I’ll join in. But my next question is was Gunner playing sick or injured ? Fair enough ? Go Dawgs !!
