Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

The Tour Championship

in General
This week is the final tournament of the PGA Tour, the Tour Championship played at East Lake Golf Club. They eliminated starting "strokes" so no advantage to players in the top-ten of the rankings.
What's unclear is whether this year's accumulated points are factored into determining the winner. Currently, Scottie Scheffler has an insurmountable lead of roughly 3800 points over second place, Rory Mcilroy. Even if Rory wins the tournament, and Scottie finishes last, the best Rory could gain is 2000 fedex cup points, and he would still finish second.
But now, I'm starting to wonder. Is the Tour Championship a stand-alone event that determines the FedEx Cup winner with FedEx cup points only used to determine the top-30 qualifiers?
Comments
Bizarrely, the winner of this weekend's tournament will be the winner of the FedEx Cup. It's essentially a one-off, sudden death event.
Russell Henley, former Dawg, with a first round score of -9 and a two-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler at -7. Five others tied for third at -6.
Interesting tidbit. Not five seconds after Scottie sank his putt on hole #18, the last player on the course, the horn sounds, suspending play for an approaching storm.
GO DAWGS!!!
Well, Henley didn't win, but he tied for second. That's a 4.3 million bonus.
Also making it to the FedEx Championship were former Dawgs Brian Harmon, Harris English, and Sepp Straka. Way to rep the G boys.
And congratulations to Tommy Fleetwood. His first win on the PGA Tour and it was the FedEx Cup Championship. So many second place finishes over the years, but you finally did it.
Well done man.
