“We’ve got to find ways to be explosive,” Smart said. “I mean, you’ve got to be able to throw the ball downfield and take shots. And that’s probably the toughest thing that I’ve been most disappointed in.”

Typical AP poll results, win against a lesser team, then drop in the polls.

I think it is how they won not that they beat a lesser is what dropped them in the AP. IMO.

Playing vanilla, trying to avoid injuries, and an awful O line? Yeah I guess it’s how they played.

So we are hoping for Bobo to figure something out? Might as well hope for snow in July in Atlanta.

“We’ve got to find ways to be explosive,” Smart said. “I mean, you’ve got to be able to throw the ball downfield and take shots. And that’s probably the toughest thing that I’ve been most disappointed in.”

Smart summed up Stockton’s day throwing the ball by saying: “He had some really easy throws that we call an extension of the run game. When you play in our league, those aren’t there. Then, you’ve got a chance to hit your shots. And it’ll be interesting to see as people creep up in our league, are we able to throw it beyond them?”

    You and me both Kirby!

And actually use the best TE room in the nation…

If we don't start throwing the ball downfield as a regular part of this offense then I think we will definitely lose some of this above average WR and TE group in the off-season.

My question is does Gunner not understand how to truly read the defense, worried about throwing an interception, not trust his O-line enough, or what when it comes to not letting pass plays develop??? Does he have an accurate enough arm and decision making ability to really lead this offense effectively?

After going on 3 years in Kirby's system, if Gunner doesn't have enough confidence to lead this offense then we need to find someone who does.

I have been supportive of Bobo but he needs to demonstrate that he has actually has a grasp of how to use the weapons he has on this team. He is showing no imagination at all in his offensive schemes. If we go into Neyland playing at the same level as the last two weeks UT will win.

Coach Smart obviously has confidence in Coach Bobo. I suspect we’ll find a way to slow down Tennessee’s fast moving offense like we always do and our offensive line will open a few holes and we’ll be just fine.

The really telling item on "the rankings"...is that the "Coaches'" Poll got it just about right....except for Penn, that is. While the AP properly bent the knee and licked all usual the butts. Imo...Penn St has no business being ranked that high.

Dawgs are #1 or #2. We just don't know which, yet We'll have a pretty good idea....soon.

    My Prediction:

    • Game 3....UGA wins by 35 points vs Tenn
    • Game 4.….Stockton enters the Heisman race.

I 'll save the rest of the story. Don't want to ruin the suspense. I'd have to include a spoiler alert. Lol

Very porous O Line. VERY. Hard to “Trust” them when you monster DTs and DEs blowing right through them !! Coaches pound it into QBs heads don’t take a sack !! So in Gunner’s case he has wheels to make a positive play or at a minimum escape being sacked. So human nature he Uses them.

YES and again YES Gunner has made mistakes ( he hasn’t turned the ball over this year) but This O Line is not helping him a bit !! Plus they don’t open holes for RBs to boot. If KS is anxious to chew on someone why doesn’t he have a little appetite for Coach Searls ??

Gunner has I believe developed subconsciously two or three receivers he Fully trusts so instead of Properly scanning the field he’s just giving a quick glance but subconsciously looking for one of those favorites and missing a wide open guy in the process.

He Can make these deep field passes given adequate Time. Just look back to the Orange Bowl, and a nice pass to Arian Smith in the SECCG.

So KS asking him to Trust THIS O Line is like asking to trust bodyguards that have guns but no ammo in them !!

If Puglisi can do significantly better Hey I’m all for it !! But and Unless This O Line gets Much better he’d probably end up getting injured.

Gunner Does need to do much better. But I sure hope that KS has called Searls into his Office privately and chewed his butt !! Searls is Not earning his paycheck !! And injuries are no excuse all teams especially SEC teams have injuries. He was Supposed to develop depth in the off season.

Let’s Hope things are much better vs TN. Oh and just to be sure you know it, None of my comments are sarcasm at you. I always appreciate your comments. I’m just a little peed at KS right now. I feel he’s to an extent throwing Gunner under the bus while letting Searls off the hook. Maybe it’ll all come together vs TN. Hope so. Go Dawgs !!

Let me remind you, Navy....no plays were called that really helped the offensive line out. If the field was properly dispersed by throwing "downfield" or running an occasional reverse....the offensive line would've fought a fair fight. And easily won.

But as it is....UGA got better last weekend. Tenn, FSU, Bama and all those other dudes that danced around "50 plus points", beating their chest in some kind of war dance for killing a squirrel....did NOT get better....imo.

Those other teams squandered an opportunity to train and cross-train....that Kirby never let's get by, without working on the trenches and short game. Just sayin'....this ain't our first go-round.

The last 2 Saturdays, just looked rough....cause that's how Kirby develops his teams. Thought you guys knew that. It's his M.O..

    Go Dawgs!!!....Go Navy!!!

Oh yeah...and, those other "Goliath" teams?.…the ones that lit up the scoreboard against "The David's"?....Watch what those teams do, the next time they face a Power 4 Team.
