One thing these DawgNation writers repeatedly do that I hate (and is also misleading) is that they re-use quotes from prior interviews or press conferences as if they're fresh quotes, often in the same story where they're using fresh quotes, just to flesh out the story. The quote from Kirby about the O-linemen getting "SEC action" this week and next week, was actually made last week after the Tennessee game, not this past Tuesday as the story implies. As a reporter, if you don't have enough new information to make a story, then just don't. And if you do wind up using old quotes, standard journalism (and ethical) protocol is to make that fact clear to the reader. Otherwise, you're making it appear as if you did some real hustling and digging to gather new information when in fact, you simply cut and pasted from a prior story. And that's dishonest, which leads to more distrust of the media.
