The decision to go for it was not a bad one. Rushing yards were easy to come by when Bowens or McCray were toting the rock. Giving it to Cash Jones (on top of the swing pass to Cash on a got to have it 3rd down later in the game) were atrocious play calls. Unfortunately, this is what we will get with Mike Bobo at the helm. Completely winnable game lost through poor coaching from Bobo

So, I get that Kirby has a "philosophy" that he believes in, but the main philosophy ought to be winning, and doing the best thing to win. He keeps saying it was about tempo, and that's fine. But in re-looking at the play, if Stockton keeps the ball he definitely would have made a first down, and there's a good chance he would have scored. But one thing this story never explains is why Smart would rather take a chance on picking up the first down, rather than take an almost-certain tie game with 13 minutes to play. UGA fought so hard to come back, it seems like pulling even would have given them a big psychological boost. And we still wouldn't have gotten the ball back with a chance for a walk-off win.

Outcoached again on both sides of the ball. The coaching staff has grown fat and complacent. No sacks, no turnovers the D is soft. Telegraphing blitz packages, Total breakdown in secondary in the 1st half. On offense, yes we could run the ball and Taylor dropped an easy td but on critical downs play calling was terrible. Kirby says the the play was successful several times against Tenn

That's the point, when you bring in little used running back on an obvious running play it's either the qb or Jones, even with tempo Bama knew exactly what the play was. There were 3 Bama defenders in the backfield on this slow sloppy play.On those's critical plays Monken would have a 300lb D lineman in the backfield bowl over the defensive tackle. On UGA last drive 2 great plays by Branch, now what does a good OC do? He keeps feeding the hot hand, has plays designed to free him up. Not our Bobo on 3rd and long he brings in old reliable Jones and throws a pass behind the line, BEHIND THE LINE!!! UGA is back to a Mark Richt team with Mark Richt coaches. Kirby is content with his 10 million dollar house and 12 million dollar salary, he tries to fake it but there's no more fire. Does anyone think Saban would put up with such mediocrity. He lost this one and a poor kick away from losing tto Tenn. An elite program on the skids.

Stubborn head coach. Incompetent friends in key coaching positions. Pathetic in game decisions. What could possibly go wrong? Clearly Monken and Lanning were the secret sauce. At least Smart is a great recruiter (on defence at least) so his teams will always be competitive. Feels like a hard ceiling on his teams though.

I didn’t realize it but like stated in the comments, Tenn makes that kick and we are 0-2 in SEC play. Kirby rants on about NFL scouts at the game🤷‍♂️. When you make $13mil a year stop making excuses or coming up with lame comments. I’ve never coached football but I’ve played some and anyone would have kicked that FG and then give it to the defensive.

Is Bama that bad or did our defense get better to shut them out in the 2nd half?

I wonder if a QB sneak was considered given it was less than a yard?

You live by the sword, you die by it. I think the smart thing would have been to tie the game with the way the D was playing. We let them off the hook there. Bama is still our daddy.

They forgot to rate coaching. Er, uh, that would be an F. Kirby Smart has gone from a treasure to a liability. Bama resides in his head, and his lack of confidence toward them results in unwise coaching decisions every time we play them. His leadership is flawed as he places his personal friendship with his incompetent coordinators over the team's success. He has grown to be arrogant and fearless in believing that he is so good he is untouchable. The coaches' payroll is obscene. These elite players deserve elite coaches. In effect, Smart is now Dabo 2.0. Too stubborn to change for the good of the program. I would trade Alabama's coaching staff for Georgia's in a heartbeat. The Bama staff is an order of magnitude more competent than Bobo, Schumann, and their buddy assistants. Our Natty is now four years old. Last night we showed the nation on national TV that we are no longer elite becuase our coaches are not elite. The bottom line is that Kirby Smart is not indispensable. The athletic director and university president need to direct him to make significant coaching changes or else pack up his own bag. The UGA coaching staff has turned into a bunch of good ole buddies with a whole lot of salary money without the eye of the tiger. We should demand better rather than excuses and obfuscation. It was sickening to watch Bama take over our house after the game last night. Sickening. This is not OK.

Running a hurry up play on third down has unfortunately been a go to approach in key moments for Bobo. This has continued to burn us. Bobo is very good at setting up plays for use late in the game and this decision takes this off the board completely. Combined with the fact that we didn’t have the right personnel in the game and didn’t target the location where Bama was wearing down… It was simply the wrong call and defending Bobo does not take that away. One timeout to consider options is always better than tempo over personnel and situational awareness. The second I saw we had Cash in the game and clearly were looking for essentially a running play, all of DawgNation was screaming “No”. The fact that we are all saying this, including pundits and our own independent commentators, outweighs No-No’s decision. Just own up and change this approach. We have too much talent to rely on tempo when we are not set up as a Tempo team. Season stats aside, there has to be consideration of our predictable calls in both sides of the ball. Our young talent this year cannot overcome these calls

We were at home. Kick the field goal and tie the game up.
