Stock soaring - Chauncey Bowens
Yet, the biggest play of the game…Cash Jones running towards the right side where our offensive line misfires again. Kirby said this about Chauncey, and I quote "Man, he ran hard. He ran physical, He got yards after contact. He protected the ball. He was tough. He was getting better with his pass pro, catching the ball. I was proud of the way he ran…"
And yet…Cash Jones who tallied negative 7 yards on 2 carries is called upon while your +100yard RB on 12 carries is standing on the sidelines with frgn pompoms in his hand as our coaching staff tries to go real fast and trick Bama instead of continuing the methodical march down the field! Just wow, huge disappointment…visions of Justin Fields fake kick dancing in my head. dmmmit man…for once just line up, put away the gimmicks and just punch them in the mouth! If Vandy can beat Bama, why can't we?
"Georgia outplayed Alabama for the majority of the final three quarters last Saturday, but poor third down play calling on offense and defense and three catastrophic mistakes on the field proved too much to overcome." YES. Thank you for noting this. Particularly the first bit, as it seems to have been largely overlooked by so many.
Alabama's PASSING offense looked pretty smooth. We did an excellent job taking the run away from them, though. This is wild, though. We absolutely made them one-dimensional by Q3, but even that one dimension was enough to get past our offensive woes and convert juuuuuuuust enough third downs…
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do we have a staff that can recruit but can't coach/game plan/scheme for today's roster?
Before NIL/portal, the ability to "out recruit" was the priority skill. With a huge raw talent advantage, great coaching was not as high a priority. The awesome talent could cover for average coaching. "Jimmies and Joes, not X's and O's."
Not now. A coach's advantage as a recruiter can be neutralized in a second by a bigger bag. Kirby knows that first hand. The talent advantage is gone at the top and "out coaching" is now what's needed to win. Especially since you will be, almost by definition, working more with younger, less experienced players who need to contribute earlier than in pre-NIL/portal days.
I cringed when Kirby said (after the game): "We gotta do a better job of affecting the quarterback. I mean, WE'VE GOT MORE PACKAGES THAN THE MAN IN THE MOON to affect the quarterback, but we've gotta do it. We gotta do it, and we gotta go out there and execute and be able to do it."
That's fine for a 4th year, red-shirt Junior with a lot of experience. That's not what we have and it's trending younger and more inexperienced every year. Less is more (simplified and fast). Not "more packages than the man in the moon" is more.
From the 2 Natty teams, we had 25 guys drafted, with 13 first-rounders. We had "Jimmy and Joe" and Jalen and Brock …
We also had the "X's and O's": Lanning, Monken, Pittman, Muschamp, Fran Brown, Buster Faulkner. We need coaches who coach first and recruit second. Still solid, but second. You can do that if you also have a GM with an NIL checkbook that can make up the difference and close deals you need to close. That's on Kirby and the AD. No more Mr. Nice Guy with the staff, Kirby.
Next steps for the braintrust for next year:
Get Pittman and Muschamp back involved as consultants if that's all they want to do. Although both have so much money in the bank, they can easily pass. Pittman more than Muschamp. Searles has to go. And fix the mistake you made a few years ago letting Buster Faulkner go. Faulkner is the guy that should have replaced Monken. When does Drew Bobo graduate?
DL, CBs and WRs need better coaching, too.
The analysis on this video is wrong. Its outside zone. The center/guard combo the play side tackle while working up to the backer. The t has to seal the end. Gaston missed the block. This is why so many and close to all of your opinions are wrong all the time, because you listen to.the wrong people and your eyes betray you in the game. You all dont watch tape like I do. You dont see the open wr and te down field and the ball isnt thrown. I will do my best to.help you all moving forward but you have to get over your unconscious bias that you all have and dont realize. You are all wrong almost all the time in who you blame or the amount you put on them. I get being mad and upset. I am mad and upset too. But I will never give anyone a pass or blame someone who isnt to blame or more than their share. There was blame all around. More than enough opportunities to win and the team didn't make plays or handle assignments all game. Thats how you lose games. Had they just made one more block or catch or throw etc. We arent having this discussion. Do not be blinded by what you do not know or do not know you do not understand. I am.here to help and teach you, because I want our fan base to be better. I want you to be educated ball knowers. I want you to.be the best versions of yourself and put the blame where it goes. To be correct instead of stubborn and wrong based on your feelings. Just look for my explanations and you will know the truth. I know you think you know better or think you are correct, but you are not. Be a big enough person and smart enough to want truth and to be correct over angry, biased, and wrong.
Refreshing. Teach me, Dawg.
I forgot about how the rush to run the 4th and 1 stopped the replay officials from reviewing the spot on GS's 3rd down run. It was definitely close enough to review the spot. Kirby and Bobo wanted to rush the play so AL couldn't substitute. They wanted to run their little trick play with their 180 lb walk on RB behind 2 freshmen OL and leave their 245 lb RB (w/ten '24 rushing TD's) on the bench.
No mention of what's up w/Daniel Harris? Any time a player inexplicably misses a game before they reach the redshirt limit you start to wonder about a possible transfer.
BTW, someone mentioned below the KJ missed INT. Looked to me he didn't even try to get his 2nd hand on the ball. Cuz it just looks cooler to 1 hand an INT. Just tried to one hand it. That also gets back to coaching. In a close game you can't miss opportunities. Player's don't seem to be getting that message.
I agree with most of the comments written below.
