Kirby is catching so much heat. He just canceled media appearances. So many people wanted Bobo gone, but Smart stuck with it. People wanted at least a new O Line guy, but Kirby stuck with it. Now, after another slow start doomed his squad in a game they could not afford to lose, he is catching it from all sides. When coaches make 5 Million a year, people expect a whole lot. It's not 1980 or even 2000. Everyone saw this coming. Oh well, as so many have said, In kirby we trust…

Kirby has a couple of blind spots.

Gunner ranks 78th in Total Passing Yards this season (851 yards).

If we were 4-0 then maybe that wouldn't be a concern. But, we are barely 3-1.

We've got arguably the best TE group in the nation and probably the best WR group that we have EVER had at Georgia. We are going to lose several of these guys to the portal if we don't start using them more. Noah should definitely be in the starting lineup.

Stockton is young, but he has been in the system for several years now. He has shown that he does miss open receivers and sometimes bails out of plays before he needs to. All I can say at this point is I hope he improves, and we start passing the ball effectively more. Time will tell.

    Georgia offense is 🗑️

ESPN assessment on Gunner: At this point, Stockton is the personification of the Georgia program as a whole: clearly talented, pretty good at everything and not necessarily elite at anything. He has thrown 39% of his passes at or behind the line of scrimmage (sixth most), and he is averaging just 5.9 air yards per attempt (seventh lowest). That's keeping the Dawgs on schedule, but explosiveness is proving to be an issue.

And that's why top tier wide outs pick OSU and Bama...

I said back in the summer that this looked like a rebuiding type of year with even a possiblity of 3-4 losses. I was hoping of course that wouldn't be the case and I would be proven wrong, gladly. The patterns of last year though are repeating themselves, even when you know they keep happening we are powerless to fix it(slow starts on offense, defense can't get off the field). Fall behind early and have to come from behind.

Gunner can't compete with the top tier SEC QB's ,so KIrby/Bobo want to simplfy the game and ground and pound it and try to shorten the game and keep the other team's offense off the field. That obviously hasn't worked so great. If we have receivers that do get open which I do see and is pointed out during games by the announcers Gunner unfortunately doesn't see them.

I see us losing to Ole MIss(running QB) ,and even Auburn(running QB) and either Miss St or Ga Tech(running QB).

Not sure why Noah hasn't been used more(maybe he's not a good blocker?) TE's have been non-exixtent in the pass game. JUst a lack of creativity in general sort of a dumb it down offense. DIve play up the middle and side screen to Branch.

Don't see much changing til we get a QB who puts pressure on the defense-probably not til Curtis starts, if he keeps his commitment seeing the ground and pound motto coming from CKS and CMB.

Dang man, I can appreciate some of this ….but find something positive to write about for a change and quit linking someone else’s articles.

Being a good or even average sports journalist isn’t always about negativity. Besides, don’t think you are doing the program any favors.

Sensationalizing most everything is becoming old ..think outside of the box.

    Or - continue on.

Unfortunately at Georgia you have to be an all American blocker at wideout . It doesn’t matter how big , fast or talented you are you could be Randy moss 2.0 . If you can’t block the linebacker on a screen play you won’t see the field . Smh

Agree 100%. DN staff shows very little creativity of their own. Its all about what someone at ESPN or other outlets said or wrote. That and repeating adnauseam points made in Kirby's pressers….and everyone's already heard the pressers in their entirety.

    @navydawg

Stockton ranks near the bottom for all SEC QB's with 100 or more passing attempts in most categories(avg. yards per completion, TD's, and RTG, accept completion percentage, which is of course as the article explains he throws the little side screens that are high percentage throws. Not saying he's a bad QB. ,or that he can't win in Bobo's system. But I believe the point is made, as I stated, that Bobo/Kirby are managing him close to their vest, which to me, is an indicator of a lack of trust or just not putting more on him than they feel he can handle. . Usually coaches coach to a player's strengths or either against his weaknesses or a combination of both.

You will probably never see Gunner even given the chance to throw it 13 out of 20 plays (or whatever it was) like Simpson did on BAMA's first 2 scoring drives against a top 5 ranked opponent to start a game. BAMA obviously likes what they see in Simpson in practice every day and felt like the way to beat us was through the air, (which has always been how you beat us) during CKS reign. And they felt like he could execute the different passing plays at a a high level. He just has the look and feel of a top tier/Heisman type QB, of course it always helps to play for a passing oriented OC.

You made my point about Curtis maybe not even comng to UGA for me. If Gunner was playing for BAMA he would be just as good as Simpson.(at least insinuated) "If you flipped Simpson to UGA" he would be like Gunner or worse? So, if that's the case and I'm not locked into the UGA brand sentimentaly and I had the choice, why wouldn't I go with a Grubb over a Bobo? Now Bobo still has til signing day to persuade Curtis he's still the right OC to coach him, and I hope he does, but I am worried.

I mean if the season progresses the way it has to this point Simpson will have around 3400 passing yards and 30 TD's to Stocktons 2400 yards and 15 TD's. You tell me.

Maybe we run the table from here on out and UGA gets that us against the world/you counted us out mentality about them, it could happen. Go DAWGS!
