The D is still playing too soft. Watching Vandy getting 4 sacks on Bama in 3 quarters shows rankings out of high school mean little if you don't have the coaching. Secondary played much better today and I hope the coaches can scheme up some pressures in the future.
The UGA secondary was supposed to be a strength, instead they look lost. They get run past and spend most of the time chasing a receiver. Never track the ball or even know where it is. Also can't defend the middle of the field for some reason. I just watched a gritty Vandy team give Bama all it could handle in Tuscaloosa. Their average composite recruiting ranking over the last 5 years is #45. UGA's is #2. Someone explain that to me.
At least we got some Pass rush pressure for the first time this season. I don't understand with our talent, why we aren't constantly hammering QBs. If they fear the pass rush, then they don't have time to pick you apart like Tyler Simmons did last week.
These are really good points, especially the composite recruiting rankings, which I did not realize... coaching matters even more in the TP+NIL era. That said, UGA did lose by 3 vs 16 for Vandy (admittedly away for Vandy)....
