Loser: once again Georgia’s failed attempt to run another pathetic “hurry up” run that was once again stuffed for a two yard loss near the Ky goal line prior to the slowdown and run a reverse to Bell for an easy walk-in TD that put the game away.
Winner: throwing out the”hurry up” b s playbook that has about a 10% success rate (90% failed) and getting back to the methodical calculated Mano y Mano playcalls that give your 4 and 5 star studded players a chance to out talent their opponent, leave the gimmicky g a rbage to Josh Heupel for crimmeny sake. Our identity is steel sharpening steel. Go dawgs!

When you get Cash the ball in space, he can break tackles,” Smart said. “

Yes, but 4th and 1 at the 8 yard line is not in space. That was the whole point. Fascinating that no one in the media, not in real time during the press conference or afterwards at Dawgnation, is pointing that out. Getting the ball to Jones on a swing pass, screen or draw play on 1st and 5 at the 40 yard line is getting the ball to him in space. But the 8 yard line is not in space because the defense only has to defend 18 yards. And a 4th in 1 is not in space anywhere on the field.

But when it is Kirby's guy, he defends him to the hilt. When Carson Beck got injured on that Texas play, Smart throws him under the bus with "he has to get rid of the ball quicker" despite knowing full well that the QB has to wait until the WRs get into the end zone. When Gunner Stockton gets injured on an identical play, then Kirby questions the decision to do it in the first place. He has always been like this and is never going to change, especially since he already has 2 titles under his belt that will keep his job secure for the next 20 years. Especially when he gets to blame the transfer portal and NIL for the next 10 of those. It will take that long before the media realizes "as every other major program has to deal with that same portal and NIL its net effect should be basically a wash, plus as the flagship university and powerhouse state SEC school with no real in-state competition the portal and NIL should give UGA a slight advantage if they manage it properly" I suppose.

Everyone likes Cash Jones, even those like me who believe that every time he is on the field takes a snap away from an underclassman who needs it to develop admits Jones has earned his playing time. But there is a difference between "Jones deserves to play" and "Jones plays in a 1. critical 2. red zone and 3. short yardage situation." First and goal at the 5 yard line midway through the second quarter? Fine, put him in and see if Stockton can get it to him on a shovel pass where the defense, thinking that it is a passing play, will either drop back into the end zone in coverage or pin their ears back to rush the passer, leaving Jones open. If it doesn't work, you still have 2 downs AND you have given the defense something to think about later. In this case? Fit the personnel to the game situation. One of the primary jobs of being a head coach.
