Yup, Mary Beth took the +3.5 and lost due to Gunner’s stupidity…give it a break Kirby! Vegas may not forgive you, but I and my Benjamin on the dawgs -3.5 do!
When the points are there, you take them…probably ingrained/innate for the fellow. No issue with it at all, his overall play kept the Dawgs in it, MVP IMO.
"Stockton took some significant hits over the course of the evening" - he's like Rocky; he needs the hits before he can focus.
He’s the man that made 13+ $$ Million this year surely not me. But I’d rather Take the points than “ Set Up” to take points. Seen to many times where things stalled out at the goal line. So speaking for lowly layman Me, I’m glad Gunner went and got the points.
Extremely disappointed that Kirby Smart would actually make a decision whether or not or how to score based on Las Vegas spreads. That is flat disgusting. Then to actually scold Gunner Stockton for scoring a touchdown when we are up by 3 points? Unbelievable! In truth, Kirby Smart is the one who should be investigated by trying to manipulate the spread lines…
Since when did “competitive fires burning” Kirby start coaching his young players to not be aggressive and not try to go for the juggler? And to blatantly bring up the betting line? How effd up is that?
I didn't hear Coach Smart say anything about covering the point spread. He knew if Gunner slid after getting the first down we could run out the clock without giving Auburn the ball back. Either way, what a great win! Go Dawgs!
After reading this article, it is obvious that Kirby Smart is not as "smart " as we give him credit for being. Just like corporations, people have life cycles. Perhaps Kirby has already hit his apex and is on the long downward decline…. The logic he used with Gunner's touchdown vs field goal is 180 opposed from his flawed logic on the field goal against Alabama which would have tied the score late in the game.
Like I said earlier He’s the HC. I’m just a fan. But what if Gunner had slid then in the next play we fumbled the ball ? I’m certainly No expert but when you have points within reach You Take Them. That’s my position and I’m sticking to it !!
Take the points when you have the opportunity.

Imo...it's basic Situational Football. If he takes a knee at the 2 or 3 yd line.…they win the game.
There would have been roughly 1:55 on the clock....Auburn had No time outs remained. UGA snaps the ball 3 times and takes a knee....Game Over!
Instead of.....scoring and having to turn ball control back over to Auburn. Which could lead to one of their Jordan Hare Miracles. No thanks.
Either way, is a small risk. But, the risk of kicking off to Auburn....far outweighs....snapping the ball 3 times and taking a knee.
You can make a case for either decision....but, I'll take the one that gives me the best chance to WIN. And, that would've been...go down at the 5 and snap the ball 3 times. Simple.
Lol....I remember him telling Kelee Ringo to go down, for the same reason in the '21 NCG vs Alabama. He didn't want Young to get his hands back on the football.
I love ole Kirby and deeply appreciate All he’s done for our Dawgs and UGA. But he’s not Above criticism either.
Well, the probability of a fumble on a kneel down is certainly much smaller than they score and then recover the on-side kick and score again. Plus, the injuries during that time span.
In my 40 years of watching football, I've never seen a fumble on a kneel, but certainly have seen some 10+ points score in 2 mins.
