It's not about starting fast. It's about starting well, controlling the LOS, and building pressure over the course of the game. Bobo and Schuman take way too long to sort out the opposition. Funny how opposing OC's and DC's have us sorted immediately. Why is that? The second half Houdini acts aren't going to cut it at the business end of the season. Just MHO.
It happened repeatedly last season (slow starts ) and it's happening again this season with a different QB, a couple of different WR's and different running backs and O-linemen. What's the common denominator? At what point is it a coaching problem?
Winner: Juan Gaston…limped through the game and played hard. UGA linemen are decimated mostly.
Not sure about those socks Thomas wears. 😏
Interesting take from The Film Guy especially on Hugh Freeze using the bye week to put in (basically) a new and different offense from the RPO-based scheme he's used for 15 years. And Kirby said after the game, they "hadn't repped it." So the defense really was hanging on for dear life in the first half and the staff made great adjustments at half-time. And amazingly, "Auburn 'ran out of new plays' after the first half. I know Freeze was desperate, but wow, we got out-game planned big time on the defensive side of the ball. Thank goodness our guys are resilient and fighters, but how long before they begin to worry that they're walking into a gun fight with a swiss army knife game plan.
Actually, it’s being reported that because Franklin was fired mid season the buyout is $56,666,000. If they had waited until after the season was over, he would’ve gotten ONLY $48,000,000. And as long as we’re naming winners and losers I’m putting the man who will receive $56,666,000 to not have to go to work ever again as a WINNER.
I heard Gunner after the game talking to a lady….."Yes, ma'am. I scored that last touchdown with a two step flyin leap. Yes, ma'am, I'm right sure of it. I took two good steps when I hit my speed. That second one just sent mea flying past that fellar in blue with orange strips right near out the back of the end zone".
Ohhhh Yesss my Brother !! I’d gladly take one third of that and could live like royalty on it !!! If someone said here’s $18,888,000 All Yours !! A good bit of it would go toward paying for the hospital bills for the heart attack I’d have !! I don’t know what I’d do with just $5 mil free and clear but I’d sure like to learn !! 😀
The whole point was that Freeze installed a whole new game plan that wasn't on film, until running out of those plays, at which point Georgia's adjustments (coaching, preparation) took over the game. You said so yourself before veering off into this idea that Smart et al should have been prepared for an offense they've never seen from the opponent.
It's good to see people finally acknowledging that it was Allen who caused the fumble.
