Great interview… Monroe's a great, impressive dude. Confident, team-first while humble and self-aware. You can really tell the QB+O-line culture/connection has improved, both since the beginning of the season and vs 2024. Good news!
What a great transfer pickup Josh McCray has been. When you think of the Georgia Bulldogs, you think of great running backs and RBU. But one thing that has rarely been a strength in the CKS era (relative to other strengths at least) is the short yardage power run play. It has been rare for the Dawgs to just line up in heavy formations and plow ahead for a yard or two in critical 4th down and goal line situations without having to bring in someone like Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter. McCray is that jumbo back who will give you that yard or two even when everyone and their mother knows what is coming. The importance of this just can't be stressed enough, and I think it really rounds out what is becoming a great UGA offense.
He reminds me a bit of Veron Haynes - with a bit less speed. You could always count on Haynes to get the yards needed in tough situations and McCray has become that. Maybe somewhat of a reach to compare him to Haynes, but there are similarities, especially in the short-yardage situations. Go DAWGS!
In addition to that big first down Saturday he has scored a couple of one and two yard TD's where he had to break three tackles. We could put Gaston at TE in those
situations.
I'd argue that the 4th down run won us that game or at least made it possible. Just a great effort, guy is a beast 💪
GO DAWGS 🔴🐾⚫️
Glad to see McCray getting the recognition for his hard work. That play was huge because up to that point, the Dogs defense had not stopped Ole Miss one time. After that series where the Dogs scored the TD, Ole Miss only picked up one more first down. That was partly due to Ole Miss having to start at the 25 in the closed end of the stadium and boy did it get loud when they had the ball.
McCray's effort on that play probably assured our win. He had to overcome the 4 linemen sitting there waiting for him, plus he had to overcome what I think was a bad play call. Everybody in Sanford stadium knew what the play call was gonna be. Can't we be just a little deceptive on offence sometime?
Vote down Dude or Dudette—how can you vote down a post that asks for deception in your offensive scheme?
