The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets haven’t met as top 10 teams since 1942, but if Stockton and King keep winning…

You have to give credit when credit is due just as with criticism. Haynes King is a very good dual threat QB. And as the article cites he doesn’t have the weapons that Gunner has to utilize. BUT Haynes doesn’t face SEC defenses either. So in my view the very best case is it’s a draw.

But I’ll take Gunner. Here’s Why, Most of King’s rushing yds. are on Designed Runs. Conversely Most of Gunner’s were/are Runs of Necessity. Now we could get into a lengthy discussion about Should Gunner have ran the ball on those plays. But to me that’s a different topic of conversation. In Gunner’s case HE believed he should run at that moment and he in most cases turned it into positive yardage. Could he have got More had he passed the ball ? Perhaps. But and again that’s a topic of a different conversation.

THIS conversation is about comparisons between the two QBs. I believe Gunner is a little better at running the ball under duress. Haynes and GT practice designed runs much more than UGA does with Gunner I’m pretty confident on that. The majority of practice with Gunner is probably spent on passing the ball. Close race between the two but I’ll take Gunner.

"King and his Jackets lost the battle, but not before earning a measure of respect that has carried over into this season, to the extent at least one Georgia legend, in addition to national media members, are giving Tech the edge at the quarterback position."

I would not trade Gunner Stockton for Haynes King, but I can't wait to see King move on to the NFL! I mean that as a compliment because he embodies the term "MVP". He has tormented every defense (including UGA) for his entire career at Tech, and they would be a very different team without him. Just as we all would have loved for Reggie Ball to have 15 years of eligibility back in his day, we will love to see Haynes King move on (again, intended as a compliment).

    GO DAWGS!

    Great article, @MikeGriffith !!!

If the Dawgs beat the gnats this year, that would break the all-time win streak record set in the fifties by tech against UGA (broken almost single-handedly by Theron Sapp, the “drought breaker”) ….. a record That I, for one, would gladly see laid to rest!

But, wouldn’t it be cool if both Georgia schools had representatives in New York at the end of the year!

    Go Dawgs!
