Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

It is not the problem it was for the offense in 2024, when the Bulldogs led the nation in drops. Zachariah Branch has emerged as a star. Dillon Bell and London Humphreys have come up with clutch catches. Prior to his injury, Colbie Young was the physical outside wide receiver Georgia so clearly lacked last season.

"And it’s easy to take the tight ends away when you play man-match.”
Against FU it seemed to be very difficult for WRs and TEs to get open. Gunner appeared to go through his progressions and didn't like what he saw. Watching on TV doesn't show all of the rout running, so I'm not sure what was going on with the coverage.
GO DAWGS!
The wr and te did not make enough plays against us. It is one of the main reasons we did not run away with the game.they will need to play better and make more plays moving forward. They have the capability, but it all comes down to doing it. Also, gunner didnt have his best game as you need to hit every time you have a freebie but this team is a work in progress and nothing is going to change that. Its just the state of where the players are after so much turnover of the roster. At least we are winning more than 99% of college football would be in a rebuild/reload year. Keep winning and imoroving and you have a chance every game. Then it all comes down to how you play that day and this team is certainly capable of more consistent play.
On the only second INT Gunner has thrown this year. That was tipped ever so slightly and I mean slightly. But that’s enough to take a smidgen of speed and change the trajectory ever so slightly. It hit Noah on the tip of his fingers had it not been tipped at the LOS it most likely would have been a catch. But that’s in the wonderful world of coulda, shoulda, woulda.
No changing it now. So far though Gunner has been very protective of the ball. Some say maybe to protective. But turnovers lead to TDs or a short field to get a TD, so I’m fine with him being protective of the ball !!
@D1Athlete1987 Hey a question for you and Anyone is welcome to chime in. Actually it’s two questions. Why are our DBs letting receivers get so deep in behind them ? More importantly, actually Much more importantly, Can this be fixed in the very short time between the Florida game and Miss. St. game ? Tomorrow is Thursday so at best Dawgs will probably only do a walk through as they have to travel to Starkville. Seems like Allot to fix in a very short period of time to me but that’s why I’m asking !! Thanks in advance for responses !!
when the coaches talk about eye discipline, they’re referring to the players watching their keys instead of paying attention to the QB or what another receiver is doing. The DBs, especially safeties, are not staying with the deepest receivers and watching the QB anticipating he’ll throw underneath. This is especially true on third down since the Dawgs have given up so many third downs. So when the QB comes off his first read or extends the play, WRs are running past the safeties. Fixing it means the DBs will have to trust everyone else to do their jobs and no try to be the hero.
Thank You !! That’s understandable even for me the way you laid it out. So essentially it’s a matter of self discipline not to drop your assignment trying to make a play over and beyond what your assigned position is.
That makes sense now. I can see where they Wrongly think a play is going a certain way and they think I can make this play as I see what’s happening in this play BUT it was a Wrong read and because they left their assignment Another receiver gets behind them and they get torched !
Young guys fueled up with Adrenalin tend to abandon self discipline if only for a moment and Boom get burned !! Thanks again for explaining it and your explanation makes sense.
I don’t mean to sound corny but it’s sort of like in the movie Top Gun “stay with your wingman” !! Requires the discipline to do what your Trained to do not what you Think is right in the moment. Maybe they’ll have it down from here out. Go Dawgs !! P.S. And Thanks Again SO much for your dedicated and honorable service !! Veterans Day right around the corner !! Semper Fi !!
