"There is also a world where Georgia goes to Atlanta due to the winning percentage of its conference foes in the event that Georgia finds itself in a three-team tiebreaker with Ole Miss and Alabama."

My understanding of the tie breaker is that the winning percentage of their conference opponents would apply only if there were no head-to-head results. If Alabama defeats Auburn, there would be a tie in the conference record with Georgia and the head-to-head results would become the deciding factor. The winning percentage of their conference opponents would only be applicable as a tie breaker between Georgia and Texas A&M if Texas A&M were to lose to Texas. A tie between UGA and Ole Miss would also be decided based on head-to-head results. All of these teams, (Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M) except for UGA still have one more conference game to play.

So if we don’t get in the SEC championship game and we are a top 4 seed, then we have a 6 week break from game action. That’s doesn’t bode well for us or any team.

Connor, instead of dreaming up scenarios, just Google “SEC tiebreaker” before you write.

It’s bama vs TAMU now. If either team loses, Georgia gets in.

In the event of a tie for a place in the Conference championship game, the following procedures will be used in the following order:

    A. Head-to-head competition among the tied teams

    B. Record versus all common Conference opponents among the tied teams

    C. Record against highest (best) placed common Conference opponent in the Conference standings, and proceeding through the Conference standings among the tied teams

    D. Cumulative Conference winning percentage of all Conference opponents among the tied teams

    E. Capped relative total scoring margin (see Appendix A) per SportSource Analytics versus all Conference opponents among the tied teams

    F. Random draw of the tied teams

Under that scenario, the final regular season game is played on November 28th. If UGA gets in with a bye for the first round the quarter final round is played on December 31 and January 1. That appears to be 5 weeks if I have looked at it correctly.

5 weeks off isn’t a good scenario for any team. If we don’t get in, I’m hoping the out TT in the 4 spot if they win the B12 and us in the 5 spot so we can play earlier.

@Righthandchan I’m with you on that! I wouldn’t mind at all having a home game against the #12 seed in the first round of the CFP to get warmed up with.

Dawgs are the team nobody wants to play right now.  They are so deep in talent that they dominate the second half of games.  When the other team's #1s start getting tired, Dawgs bring in a fresh wave of 4 and 5 star players.  Last night, Georgia won the 4th quarter 21 to 0.

I can't disagree, 5 weeks off isn't good and that would apply for most teams, but we're talking about The Dawgs and 5 weeks will not be OFF, it'll be 5 weeks of healing, refocus, and recommitment to the seasons goals, 5 weeks of the most intense practices aimed at elite sharpness at every position from starter to scout team, 5 weeks where "Better Never Rest" is a daily mantra, 5 weeks for every player to distinguish themselves as DGD's and members of the 2025 team, one of the all time best and for our coaches to develop game plans and schemes for every potential obstacle to The DAWG GOAL……one more NATTY

That is a lot of prep. Or a lot of rust. Everybody should be healthy. Still a lot of football to be played before cementing top 4.

aTm has not played a single SEC team with a winning record. SCAR exposed the overrated fraud that they are. I have hoped all year that we avoid the SECCG and get a historic CFP game at home in Athens but I’ve changed my mind. I would love to see our pups smoke them in ATL.

As a fan, I would love to see Georgia play in the SEC championship game, but then again we are in such a perfect position right now and playing against the other strongest SEC team would not be ideal.

Based on our history, I expect an underwhelming performance against Charlotte this week. That would be fine if it's we get up 21 points and start playing 2nd/3rd string, but I suspect we'll have our starters in there too long. I would really like to see Stockton work on his long ball accuracy and really get some big numbers for players like Branch. I know that's not "what we do" and we'll instead "pound the ball" and wear down the other team, but it's really the weakest part of Stockton's otherwise amazing level play. I would also like to see Puglisi come in sooner than 4th quarter and do more than just hand off the ball.

After that, we need to prepare for a talented Tech team that will be giving it their all.

There is something to being able to say "SEC Champs". BUT, from the way I understand it, the odds of UGA getting into the SECCG are pretty small. AL would have to lose to AU. That is not likely. aTm would have to lose to TX. That is a possibility. There is no head to head tie breaker between UGA and aTm. Then it would depend on the winning % (?) of SEC opponents. I do not know how the UGA opponent record stacks up vs the aTm opponent record. TX vs aTm should be a good game, Both teams should come ready to play.

What we have learned in the past is that you can't trust the committee. They say that schedule matters and championship game performance doesn't matter. But they don't seem to live up to their in season comments when selections are made.

Let's say AL beats aTm then both probably stay ahead of UGA in the playoff seeding. Same with the winner/loser of the B10. TX Tec wins the B12 do they jump idle UGA?

It would have to be in UGA's best interests to NOT have to play in the SECCG AND still remain in the top 4 seeding. I find it hard to believe UGA stays in the top 4 after the conf CG's are played. Not sure that playing in the SECCG is worth the risk. Especially having to play AL, a team that UGA has great difficulty beating.

On the subject of conference CG's. There are a lot of rumblings about expanding the playoffs to 16 teams (or more). That will be happening sooner ('27?) rather than later. There seems to be no way the NCAA can keep the the conference championship games AND expand the playoff schedule to accommodate 16 or more teams.
