4 things: Gunner Stockton leading Georgiaâs âanacondaâ offense
4 things: Gunner Stockton leading Georgiaâs âanacondaâ offense
Gunner Stockton has seen to it that Smartâs vision for success has come to fruition, seemingly improving every time he takes the field for Georgia at quarterback.

That offense is getting dangerous. If the O line continues to improve, they have a shot at the big prize. Demello Jones has become a breath of fresh air on the backend. If we could get more out of the star position…
He is nothing like Johnny Manziel so please stop the nonsense. Manziel was backyard football. Gunner is Gunner!!! Unnecessary comparisons
concur - a cross between a young Brett Farve and Gomer Pyle (off the field). Also, maybe a Joe Kapp, Pavia or Haynes King. For me, he probably will never shake the Gomer thing …and that's a good thing, the boy was definitely raised right.
He is definitely "old school", a warrior that leads…the antithesis of "the other guy"…and I am happy for it & glad we have him.
@jdatl3- dangerous and highly effective. They kept a very good Texas defensive squad on the field for a long time and they were spent by the time the fourth quarter rolled around. It was so impressive to see the offense and defense control the game the way they did. Texas was hyper focused on Zach Branch (as they needed to be) and got lit up by Noah Thomas, Lawson Lucky, and London Humphreys! There's so much talent on this team it's difficult for the other team to know who's about to burn them! This team has put the entire world of college football on notice!
GO DAWGS!
@Outkasted77 Gunner extends plays like Manziel did. Sarkisian compares him to Diego Pavia.
Notice how the Gunner Stockton trolls have vanished like f a r t s in the wind. It’s breaking their **** little hearts to see him doing so well. Vast Majority of Dawgs fans are Loving it though !!
Watching Gunner AND this whole team really grow up right before our eyes has been a wonderful ( sometimes scary) awesome thing to behold. I believe in giving credit where credit is due, our Dawgs just beat a very good TX team. They had to get a “feel” for TX initially but once the players and the coaches got a handle on them it was pretty much lights out.
EVERY team our Dawgs have played have wanted so bad to beat them. Dawgs had and still have a target on them but they refused to be hunted and became the Hunters !! You can bet your granny’s dentures GT is gonna want to knock the Dawgs off in the worse way.
Well they better bring their lunch pail cause it’s gonna be an all day job and they Still won’t do it !! Go Dawgs !!
I've mentioned this before, but wouldn't expect anyone to remember it, but just like Mr. Bill King, I have a running family sports chat with my brother, a cousin, a different cousin's husband, and my uncle. It's all things Georgia sports, although it's only me and my cousin who ever mention the ATL Hawks, and really, I only watch Falcons games so that I can keep up with the conversation (I just don't care that much about the NFL). At the beginning of the year, and even three games in, I said to the family chat that I just didn't think we were a championship team this year. I meant it. We were pretty good, and were showing a great deal of potential, but I just didn't see that potential developing over the course of a single season. I was very hopeful about next year, since most of the team still has plenty of eligibility, and I just don't see many of the current contributors heading to the portal.
HOOOOO BOY, has that been turned around now. Much like @navydawg , I've been a champion of Gunner since day 1 (he went to the same high school as the one cousin who's husband is part of the chat, and my uncle knows his family from living in the same area… so… connections and intel), and never doubted him, but wasn't sure how quickly things were going to progress for him on the field.
Everything listed in this article spells out exactly why I was wrong. Yes, the 4th-and-whatever C. Jones play against Alabama seemed boneheaded, but CKS trusted his offense to get a thing done; there was just a tiny misstep that caused the breakdown - Smart's GUT (and, according to Lane Kiffin, that gut is growing (HA!)). I don't care about Manziel, but he was so unpredictable he kept folks on their toes, so I like the comparison (pretty sure Mr. Stockton is not showing up to games having downed several bottles of anything, though). And yes, Mr. Stockton absolutely deserves some recognition. I don't think he'd win the Heisman, and I don't think he'd care to, but it was nice to hear old Herbie give him some credit on that one. Anyhow, I think I'm rambling at this point. This was just a lot of words to say that the season is working out very differently than I imagined after a couple games and…
GO DAWGS!!!
Yessir. I can't count the number of "Gunner ain't it" people I had to quietly ignore. On Facebook. Not here, although there was not a lack of concern here, either…
It’s been So fun watching this team though at times I thought I was gonna blow a heart gasket Lol !! I honestly believe based on this last game mainly that Gunner and our Dawgs can carry us all the way to glory land with only one proviso. And I’m not even gonna say it, starts with an I .
I don’t really believe to much in jinxes but that I word is just u g l y. I’m hoping CJ Allen and Bowens will be back by the GT game. We Know the bugs will put every ounce of their being against our Dawgs. I think we can still win even with both those two out. But it’ll make an already challenging game that much harder.
I couldn’t be more proud of Gunner and this entire Dawgs team. The critical trolls I was talking about there’s only one or two, one in particular only show up on the game day thread and just as soon as it’s pretty obvious the Dawgs are gonna win they disappear !! But to Them Gunner can do Nothing right !! I’d ignore it only one of them takes it to a personal level like he H a t e s Gunner. There’s no call for that . So I try to dish it back to him which in honesty is out of my character,. I’d Much, Much rather make a new friend than make an enemy.
I don’t know why but some people, fortunately they are only a few seem to Enjoy arguing and making cutting remarks. I’m not into that at all.
Most of these kids play their hearts out and when they make a mistake no one feels any worse than they do about it. Always enjoy your comments !! Go Dawgs !!
This team is peaking at JUST the right time…GO DAWGS!!
yessir, and I hate to bring it back up (I know how healing can be sensitive, myself) but I’m glad to hear that things are moving forward for you, friend.
Go Dawgs!
Wildly, I have a thought about the “downvote bandit.” Whoever it is doesn’t mean to actually downvote, but using their phone, and isn’t following up with how their votes register. Sheesh!! My (apparently) fat thumb downvoted VenomGA’s comment twice, both of which I corrected… but only because I wanted to extend a comment. I’ve forgotten what I wanted to comment now, but… maybe that’s still worth considering? Probably not, but I’m gonna play Pollyanna tonight 🤣🤣🤣
First, Gunner did not have a shaky Spring Game. Was there, he was clearly the best QB and made some great plays. Statistics-wise the offense was not running much but throwing deep a lot, entertaining game but not a real one.
Secondly, am just amazed at how much Gunner is improving as the year goes on. Many forget that by the time Stetson took over for JT Daniels in 2021 he had already had 15 or so starts in college. He really did well in 2022 after all the first team reps and game experience. Gunner had 1 start prior to this season, and he is getting better and more comfortable every game. Nothing can replace actual game experience vs someone other than your scout team.
