“There’s a lot of stuff going on in the backfield. There’s a lot of motion shifts. You’ve got the extra element of the quarterback run.”
All true, but there’s one guy back there that must be stopped. That’s #10. Concentrate on stopping King and ignore all that other stuff. He’s a decent passer but not exceptional. He is an exceptional runner/scrambler.
Where is this coming from? No reporting that I've found, including the DN article linked in this one, says one way or the other whether Allen will play this week
Pitt had a game plan that worked well against king and his fellow yellow pest..
Agree....and, respectfully disagree.
Watch out for Jamal Haynes. That kid is special. And, Seither could come back to haunt the Dawgs a little bit.
Imo.…Tech, losing last week....makes them the most dangerous team the Dawgs have faced, since Bama.
The Dawgs better come with their "fangs out"....cause these bees can sting. Best team they've had since "maybe", the Calvin Johnson years. Or...1989-90.
Go get em Big Red Machine! Take their honey, first. Helps the wings and legs go down and adds a bit of flavor. Lol
Pitt rushed for 186 yards against the Bees, and Tech's defense is definitely their weakness…or at least has been the last few games. However, Jamal Haynes along with King lead a formidable offense. Our defense is playing pretty well, so I do think we can win this game if we can control King. That means disrupting him like we did with Manning against Texas, and putting Cole or whomever as a spy stuck to him like glue. Tech only allowed (1) sack against Pitt, and King was able to rush for 76 yards. But it wasn't enough to beat the Panthers.
Tech took us to (8) OTs last season…and then the 7-6 Jackets got beat by Vandy in a bowl game. I know Kirby will not be underestimating those Bees.
I would like to see the Dawgs get out to an early lead and control the game by possessing the ball for long periods of time, and keeping HK and his offense watching from the sidelines. This Gunner Stockton-lead offense has been running like a machine lately and could be exactly what our defense needs to hobble Haynes King and Jamal Haynes. They can't "stretch you horizontally" or "stretch you vertically" if they're standing over there on the sideline watching Frazier, Bowens, and Walker eat up 5 or 6 yards at a time!
GO DAWGS!
Ever relisten to the questions asked of Kirby in the Monday pressers??? Some are a real hoot!!! How does the saying go … " sometimes it is better to remain silent and be thought….."
@GoodOlDawg @MontanaDawg Yes Agree to Both of you !! Keep the Bugs off the field as best possible. And pressure King as much as possible. Though Pitt only sacked him once they pressured his throwing and kept him mostly inaccurate . Limit his running as best they can.
RB Haynes is worrisome as he can really go once he gets started. The thing about our Dawgs is they practice against as good or better running the Ball vs their own Brother Dawgs. And better in passing the ball I believe.
Lastly as a whole the Dawgs are just a better team. Control their emotions, stay focused, execute the plays and win !! Another thing is it just me or has Mike Bobo gotten better and better dialing up plays as a whole, game by game ? I think he Has !! Yes he still makes mistakes but he has really impressed with his play calling this year.
Early on ( and I’ve already apologized but I don’t mind doing it again) I was very critical of him and Coach Searls on here. Mmmm Crow sure tastes good !! And the Defense has improved to !!
In my view this team shifted into a new and higher gear starting with the second half of the UF game and have been trending upward ever since. Earlier on this year I was thinking it’d be too much to ask for a Ntl. Title. Not any more !! I see our Dawgs as Just As Capable if not More so than any team in CFB and Yes that includes Ohio St. Go Dawgs !!
P.S. This game will be another late bloomer as GT is gonna dish out all they have. Dawgs win it though by 17 points !!
I hope Chauncey Bowens is as healthy as possible. Frazier is really running good and hard. Walker can help us but as a young back I’d really preach ball security to him !! I think we’re gonna see more of Dillon Bell running the ball to.
I wish they’d either throw direct to Peanut Phillips or do a toss sweep type play to him, he needs some green in front of him once he gets going if there’s a small hole open say Bye cause he’s gone !!
NOTE: I guess R. Robinson is gonna be gone ? And what happened to McCray ? Just seems like all of a sudden we’re sort of short on RBs. Still got ole Brother Cash and he’s dangerous in the right play. I totally trust Gunner throwing the ball, but as has already been said and I agree would be nice to Run the ball and keep GT off the field !!
We have an edge over GT in getting down the field Quickly in Branch, Thomas, Humphrey and pick a TE your choice !! So if getting down the field fast shows up Dawgs have that ability. If you need just 3 to win Woodring has us covered!! Go Dawgs !!
Not trying to be a smart butt but the score cited in this article is not correct for GT vs Pitt the correct final was 42-28 Pitt over GT not 35-28 unless he was saying Pitt had 35 on the board when GT rallied to bring their score up to 28. I’ll give GT this they never stopped fighting. But all in all Pitt just curb stomped them !!
Tech's most productive players had a bad night. I don't think that's gonna happen twice. Just sayin'....this Tech Team is for real....on, Offense.
Imo.....The GT Defense is about as effective and (in)consistent as some of the mid-tier defenses. Like MSU or Ole Miss….or Tennessee. They've got some players on defense....but, no deprh.
Ga Tech is capable of keeping up with the Dawgs on the scoreboard....If, and only if.....UGA turns the ball over 3 or 4 times. Which they haven't shown the tendency of do, in their previous 11 games.
Either way....the Dawgs will WIN. The only question in my mind, is "by how much". Oh yeah....and do I have plenty of Tylenol. Lol
Oh yeah my Brother be assured it won’t be an Easy game by any stretch. It’s gonna be the Usual war. But I think the Dawgs are just the better team. Had you asked me that earlier in the year I’d have had to pause and go Hmmm let me think on that a sec.
Not always but I try to “study” our opponents before we play them. Before Pitt vs GT I noticed that Pitt Crushed NC St. where as GT lost by a considerable score. I also noticed that Pitt Crushed Boston College where as GT barely slid by with a 2 point win.
So I was thinking maybe Pitt might “squeak” a W by a narrow margin but then I thought Nah GT will win but by a narrow margin. I Never imagined Pitt would win 42-28 !!
NOW flush All of that down the toilet because GT will play their best game of the season vs our Dawgs !! BUT it won’t be enough. Be assured that last year’s drama embarrassed Kirby and he Will have the Dawgs ready and better prepared this time around. Dawgs will begin to break away very late in the 3rd qtr. Don’t know the score but Dawgs win by 17 points.
Player vs Player the Dawgs just have More Quality than the Bugs do. Like I say it won’t be Easy at all but Dawgs will Win solid. With one proviso and that’s If the Dawgs play sloppy and turn the ball over more than twice. Two times would make it Extremely hard game but even at that Dawgs would win. Now if they turn it over Three or more times there could be allot of Sad Dawgs fans. But I honestly don’t see that happening.
This ain’t Charlotte, there’s Tons at stake with this game and everyone including the towel boy and Powerade girl knows it !! Dawgs will come in rested, focused, prepared and ready to rumble !!
I honestly believe that This Dawgs team has a Very legitimate shot at winning the Ntl. Title !! They took their foot off the gas in a big way after the first qtr. vs Charlotte and started fooling around.
As the game went on Kirby put everybody in But the towel boy and the Powerade girl and he might’ve thought about letting them suit up !! Not trying to be arrogant but realistic there’s not a CFB team now that really scares me even Ohio St. I Trust this Dawgs team. Course I’m planning on Suing them for cardiac problems earlier in the year but Now I trust them !! 😂 Go Dawgs !!
Nowhere in either article does it say CJ IS OUT. Still a Heisman contender but gunner plays a half with 80% comp pct and nearly 200 yds passing in 2 qtrs won but you said his Heisman prospects took a hit...hypocritical
Right now....as it stands....the only two teams out there, capable of beating the Dawgs in the CFP, are OSU....and, UGA.
I don't think it will matter what happens Friday, in the grand scheme of things. Not for UGA, anyway.
GT, on the other hand....MUST WIN...to have a chance. That's what makes em so dangerous.
Imo....Between the coaches that migrated from Athens to Atlanta...and, the transfers like Seither and King, GT sopped up off UGA's plate.....
The Jackets are playing a lot like the Dawgs, wrt fire & intensity....and, playing well in the 4th quarter.
They've managed to actually build a respectable Program, through the portal and good coaching. Brent Keys is one helluva HC....and, Kirby sent him to fix Atlanta.
Lolol....hope the Falcons and Arther Blank are paying attention to how it's done. SMH....Right smack in-between two of the best Head Coaches of our Day....Saban & Smart....and, they can't figure out How to build a darn football team.
