I went to the Dawgs official site and looked at the stats from the first time we played them. Here’s a little info. 1) They had Significantly longer time of possession than the Dawgs. 2) Dawgs rushed for about 100 yds. more than them but they passed for about 100 yds. more than the Dawgs. 3) This one will bite you on the nose Dawgs had 52 Yards more than they did in penalties !! They had 16 yds. Dawgs had 68 yds !! That’s enough for them to kick a FG !!

So were Kirby’s Dawgs THAT undisciplined ? And Bama only had 16 yds ? Hmm they certainly are Very disciplined on their side aren’t they ? If you watched the Iron Bowl it was obvious to Me and I think, I hope most Non-Bama fans saw how slanted in Bama’s favor the officiating was !!

Watching DeBoer he has learned well from the Saban method of working the Refs. DeBoer whines and cries and bellyached about Any and All flags thrown on Bama !! I mean he puts on a real Anger show. So as the game proceeds the Refs give him two or three Freebies !! He gets in the Refs heads and makes them fear he’s gonna lodge a complaint. Spurrier was a Master at it. He was constantly calling or writing letters about the Refs.

There was an entire officiating crew Fired this year. The Refs have reputations they are proud of but also they don’t want to lose $$ like anyone else !! Any 50-50 calls are gonna go to Bama. Now Yes Kirby will fight the Refs over calls he thought was wrong and calls that are 50-50. But when it’s obvious it Is a penalty on the Dawgs Kirby will just shrug his shoulders Then chew the player or players that got the penalty !!

So Dawgs need to Run the ball Effectively as much as possible to control TOP when they pass the ball they need to be very effective there to. Gunner is going to Have to throw deep balls. And Kirby is gonna have to be more zealous in working the Refs. Those are my opinions of what will help the Dawgs to win. And of course coupled with our Defense holding them down. Great special teams play etc. etc. This will NOT be an easy game at all, but I honestly believe the Dawgs get the W this go around !!

DeBoer should send the refs gift baskets for the win vs. Auburn. Some very questionable penalties IMO kept two Gump drives alive. Without the penalties Auburn had stops, momentum, and a chance to close out the game. The worst call was roughing the passer which then morphed into targeting. Rubbish. That Auburn kid realized at the last second he had to pull up and made an effort, but couldn't avoid contact. His body language was very clear. Makes you wonder if anyone in the booth reviewing this stuff ever played the game. SMDH.

There's only one thing to do and CKS knows it, and that's be our best, outplay the Gump's, and bury his nemesis forever.

    Go Dawgs!

@MikeGriffith Hello Mike !! Hope you and family had a great Thanksgiving !! I went back and reread your article 3 takeaways from Alabama’s 24-21 win over Georgia. As usual you did an excellent job on that article.

And I really thought about the quality of That Dawgs team Then as compared to This Dawgs team Now. Huge difference. Some will say OK but what about the GT game ? Which is a fair question. But you’ve covered the Dawgs for a long time and I’m sure you know as many do That game is unique unto its self.

I didn’t realize that Haynes King & GT had the second most Offensive yds. in CFB until last night. I knew they were Way up the totem pole but not that high. Yes Gunner and the Dawgs O had a rough outing but look what the Dawgs Defense did with the very potent GT Offense. In fairness Bama hasn’t been frozen in time, they’ve progressed to.

I just believe if the Dawgs play their A game they will squeak a W past Bama. If Bowens is fully healthy that will bode really well for UGA !! The Bowens, Frazier, McCray trio will be very potent and hard to stop !! Frazier fumbled in game one hopefully No Dawgs will have that issue.

To many bases to cover but This Dawgs is a much more mature and improved version Now than Then. Thanks Mike we appreciate the good work you do !!

I fully agree with your take ! It’s like Bama has built in favoritism with the Refs pretty much every game. That is So wrong !! If they can’t win on their own merit so be it. The Refs don’t need to be rendering an assist. I saw that exact play you’re talking about and it was a total garbage call by the Refs.Go Dawgs beat The Gumps !!

If the refs call holding on Bama offense just half the time, Dawgs get at least 3 more sacks (would have had a couple in Bama game earlier this year) & Bama gets fewer 3rd down conversions, points, etc.

At minimum, hope they'll call holding when Bama o-line simultaneously tackles & puts a choke hold on our d-line (as pictures showed was clearly done to Christian Miller in game 1).

Not holding my breath on the above, so just rock Ty Simpson anyway - early & often.

@navydawg Thanks Navy! Georgia has gotten better in so many areas, but this team is beat up, and Drew Bobo's health will be a big deal. Alabama is beat up, too. These teams survived a tough season, and now they will pound on each other before the CFP. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the SEC championship game may be gone sooner than later. Declare and SEC regular-season champion. The CFP makes it too tough on the players

Mike, you are spot on, as much as I hate to lose the SECC, the advent of a 9 conference game schedule will relegate the game a liability to competing for a Natty….just a downside of playing in the toughest conference in college football.

@MikeGriffith Hey Mike sorry I’m late getting back. I agree with you fully. The SEC as you know better than me is a pure gauntlet !! That’s Why they tend to lose some of the bowl games post season to non-conference is they are So beat up !! I like your idea of best regular season IS the SEC Champ. Would be better for everyone concerned. Drew being out is Huge and makes it even more of an uphill climb. But I’m going mainly on Faith that the Dawgs are More improved than Bama and Will Win this time around !! Thx Mike !!
