Kirby Smart Dean of SEC coaches, and âtrain not slowing downâ
The Georgia head coach wonât be turning 50 years old for a few more weeks, but he aged up in SEC seniority with Kentuckyâs firing of Mark Stoops.

Thats our coach, and happy we have him! Kirby is never satisfied as a coach , keeps UGA as his main interest, and always striving to improve on a daily basis, a winning recipe..GoDAWGS!
Kirby has always been a DGD. Thanks “Pops” for all the great memories. Go Dawgs!!!
Kirby is the epitome of DGD !! Go Dawgs !!
Kirby has chased a lot of coaches out of the league. They couldn't compete. Hard to believe any kid chasing a roster spot at any other school, and yet they do.
And, he still hasn't been declared National Coach of the Year. Lol....unbelievable!
Kirby Smart=DGD!!! GO DAWGS
Only 3 SEC titles in all of those trips. I'm very happy that Kirby is our coach, but gotta change that narrative this weekend.
Go Dawgs!
@David1 Kirby only got 3 SEC titles in all those trips because the other team had better players. The only time it is reasonable to claim that Kirby suffered an upset loss in the SECCG was 2021 and even that was against a Bama team that had Bryce Young throwing to Jameson Williams and John Metchie plus several future NFL starters at pass rusher and in their secondary. The 2023 game was a disappointment but come on: with Bowers and McConkey hurt, who else did UGA have at WR, TE or RB? Please recall the 2024 season or imagine what the 2025 season would have been like without Zachariah Branch, Nate Frazier, Colbie Young, Chauncey Bowens and Noah Thomas - none of whom were in Athens in 2024 - before you answer that question.
To hell with "narratives". This is a team apart from all others....imo. These guys never lost a darn thing.
The last game, between UGA & Bama was going the Dawgs way when it ended. They nearly took it in the 2nd half....but, their typical "slow start" cost em.
UGA....imo....has resolved it's 1st half issues and constructed one of the deepest, best & most athletic, offensive lines, I've seen in a long time. Particularly in Athens.
If you believe Deboer is a better coach than Smart. And, you believe He closed the gap, wrt their 2nd half & 4th quarter issues. Then, by all means...Sweat the Championship game
Those "issues" were on display in Athens and throughout Bama's Season....including Saturday vs Auburn.
The Dawgs are gonna win big in this one....and, not because they want to crush "narratives".
UGA.......45. Bama........16
Everyone, particularly Kirby, wants to win this weekend.
Most would say that winning the SEC Championship 60% of the times the SECCG is reached is quite remarkable. Becoming the SEC Champion is a feat the final hurdle of which is a game which demands beating the other top SEC team.
One of these SEC Championship games was lost to Alabama, but should that one count against Kirby & Company? You do remember that we lost to the Elephants in the SECCG, but defeated them in the National Championship game?
Obviously, we'd all rather win every game, but, at least that one time, I would have picked winning the National Championship over winning the SEC Championship given the choice.
Go, Dawgs!
Apparently, you guys are too young to remember the 2018 SECCG..…When the Dawgs were robbed out of a late game blocked punt.
Go back and review that game....and tell me they weren't robbed by the refs. Hell....the referee even admitted it. After the fact.
Speaking of which....does anybody know how the referees for that game are selected?....and, who selects em?
Go Dawgs! Get anoth'an.. Lol
I sure hope you're right, I'd love to not have to sweat this game and just enjoy it.
I hope Bobo is helping Toliver get up to speed, too.
After the Tech game, I was a worried by the offense's performance but, man, did that defense show up to stop Haynes King, etc.!
Dang...I forgot about Drew. Will he be "able" to go at all, if they absolutely need him?
Like....when they used Beck last year,, for the one goal line play....when Stockton had to leave the game due to equipment violation.
Will he be able to block?....even if he he can't snap it, they can sub him at guard to move one of those guys over to center....if required.
That could throw a wrench in the works...if Bobo's backup goes down. I'm thinking turnovers, now.
You know Dawggone well, those backup centers and quarterbacks, are sleeping with the football every night...and snapping their way to the chow hall in the morning. Lol
I have all the confidence in the world, in Kirby's ability to manage and coach his team. He sees everything we do.
I'm sure they've been working on the Centers, since Fall Camp started....actually, since last year, when he was platooning the offensive line in those "unexpectedly tight" games.
Thank goodness, they are stocked with plenty of talent, to mitigate that issue. However....a quarterback and center, work through exchange issues over time [through reps].
Imo...Sometimes....A quarterback settles into a preferred center....just like a pitcher sometimes has a preferred catcher, in baseball.
This is as much Stockton's problem as it is, Kirby's. And, I have confidence in him, too.
Go Dawgs!
Imo....Kirby's probably gonna want to knock em out of this CFP thing right now, if he can. Crush them beyond recognition and own it. Stop ****-footing around with it, and get it done!
Please, Boss Smart. Lol
I don't know if I want to watch another UGA disappointment vs Bama. You don't owe em a darned thing Kirby. Lol
