Jared Curtis: Latest Intel in 5-starâs decision hint at one last final act
Welcome to "Sentell's Intel" where Jeff Sentell not only provides you the latest recruiting information, he takes you into the homes of these students and what makes them special to the Georgia program.

Really? I love the phrase “respect for both programs.” That says it all. You’re “committed” to Georgia and you have to show “respect” for Vanderbilt? Why? Of course, flipping to Vanderbilt is not showing “respect” for Georgia, a program who has recruited based on your commitment. Bailing out of that commitment at the last minute makes it very difficult for Georgia to recover and recruit another QB for this class. They, perhaps foolishly, believed you when you said you were coming to Athens. Now you stab them in the back? Where’s the respect in that? Since you “supposedly” are not “committed” to Vanderbilt, why do you owe them anything?
Bottom line - he’s at lest led Vanderbilt to believe he’s going there. Otherwise, he owes them nothing. Therefore, the only logical conclusion: well that’s obvious. Why not just call Lane and say you’re coming to LSU. Two peas in a pod.
If Curtis comes, he will never stay. He’s not the “waiting my turn” type. He will be Justin Fields ll.
At this point, The Dawgs need to hold firm to whatever offer was initially made, if he flips to Vandy use the money to shore up O-Line and D-Line….we've got plenty of talent willing to be developed and grow to become DGD's.
Why has it been a roller coaster, per Burns? Either he wants to play for a team like UGA or he has been using Kirby and Co. to sweeten his offer from another school. When I think of a roller coaster, I think of something that's good and then is bad. If he's committed, decommitted, and recommitted to Georgia, that doesn't sound like a roller coaster just indecision by someone who isn't sure what they want to do.
Does he want to stay at home so bad and play for Vandy that he's willing to take a chance at not being NFL ready?
I've wondered if Curtis's family or even Vandy did it just to test the waters and see the response.
If he was going to think about it today and discuss it with his family, etc. etc., then he was never really committed to UGA.
To be honest I hope he goes to Vandy. High maintenance, needy. Rat poison. He’ll be in the transfer portal sooner rather than later. Walk away and use the money on recruits with character and loyalty.
I’m editing this in hopes that the agent is telling the truth, hopefully without his fingers crossed behind his back, and that Curtis wants to be a Dawg. If not, I will repost.
Still sounds like he’s flipping. Since this has come out, it’d probably be better for everyone if he did go to Vandy.
People keep forgetting he is from Nashville, so it does make sense he would stay close to family and where he has grown up.
@Beachwagon - 100% - You have listed the two things that are actually meaningful: character and loyalty. This fiasco clearly indicates a lack of both, imo. When my sons were being recruited to play basketball, we had the “dad/son” talk. They understood if they told a coach they were going to his school, they had given their word and changing their mind wasn’t an option. Our family’s integrity is a big deal. It’s nonnegotiable. My granddad taught me that a man is no better than his word. I taught my sons that same thing. What we’re seeing today is the failure of parents to raise their children about the importance of character and loyalty. It’s not the kids’ fault. They haven’t been taught how important one’s word is.
We have an entire generation that thinks changing your mind after giving your word is ok. It’s a reflection of a culture that basically shouts over and over that you do what you want and dont worry about who’s hurt by what you do.
@dare2554 - True. However, if that is the basis of his decision, why not simply commit to Vanderbilt in the first place? Why all the drama? Why put UGA in a situation where they stop recruiting a QB for this class by decommitting at the last minute?
The way this has played out stinks.
Or maybe, Jacob Eason, Jr. (But Curtis didn't actually come, did he? Unlike Justin Fields who actually did).
I wish I could (have) upvote this a thousand times. He's making it seem like the decision came down to today, when it was being reported at least two weeks ago that he was likely to flip if a couple of things happened: 1) Clark Lea got an extension (he did), and 2) Vandy assured him of playing time (which I've read that they did). However, NOTHING about UGA changed. Stockton was always coming back and Puglisi and/or Montgomery were going to be around to fight for the job after Stockton left. UGA was always up front about that. Vanderbilt has always been in Nashville so this deal about the opportunity to play in front of his friends and family, he could have done that a year ago. When he took that visit to Vandy in October, supposedly to support a teammate who was being recruited by them, I knew he was probably gonna leave because he was LISTENING to what Vandy was selling. And from that day to this one, he never made any kind of public statement or social media post reaffirming his commitment to UGA., even when others started to cast doubt on it, he kept silent. That spoke volumes and now we see where it's all landed.
