David Pollack gives blunt thoughts on current Georgia offense: âIt wonât be prettyâ

Love you David but I respectfully disagree. NOT with the importance of Drew Bobo I agree with you on that totally. But Dawgs didn’t have Chauncey Bowens vs GT. That hurt the run game to some extent. Having Bowens, Frazier, McCray will be very positive for the Dawgs. Might not be pretty but Dawgs will Win !! Go Dawgs !!
sooooo does Alabama suffer on offense without their center and Left Tackle out? Cats will say anything to get clicks…
I'm no expert, but I think Georgia totally played not to lose on Saturday. That isn't to say that losing Bobo didn't have an impact, but maybe they schemed around Bobo for Toliver to keep from overwhelming him.
Last year, Bobo filled in when the starting center (I forget his name) left the Alabama game and did a good job…in fact, I thought he was better than the starter.
Toliver is 6'-5" and 320, so his size at least is comparable to Bobo. Actually, on UGA's roster, he's listed as 15 lbs. heaver.
I expect Toliver has been getting some good reps in this week, and maybe Bobo and Kirby have been able to scheme for Bobo being out.
If the 2nd half defense from the Alabama game shows up, they'll have a tough time scoring more than they did last time.
I really don't know if Toliver is the answer. His blocking was suspect against Tech and the offense came nowhere near the running team they were in the first half. Bama is going to key on this position to disrupt the interior line. Thinking maybe Glover gets the nod at the Center position just because of his experience ( recruited as a Center / Guard ) and the lights might be too bright for the other two guys. Then Gaston fills the other OL spot along with Freeling, Greene, and Morris.
well maybe we need to throw a bit more to TE's and lay off the numerous screen passes. Possibly run off tackle instead of up the gut. Not throw down field into double coverage quite as much. Just some thoughts that might ease his loss a bit.
Whenever you have to replace a key member of the line half way through a game, its going to have a major impact for THAT game. But with the week of practice our new center will have, I am not that concerned.
As bad as I want the TEs to show out, I think they need the big TEs to help block the line.
Maybe they can scheme something with big Elyiss though.
I don't remember Pollack ever being positive about the Dawgs since he left. Hell, Tebow is more supportive. More of that Alabama awe that Pollock has spit out before. It's going to be more challenging without Drew, he's really improved as the year progressed. I believe that Cortez, Malachi and Donnie will gain important experience. As we say...next man up for the playoffs.
Go Dawgs!!!
anyone ever think that DP could be pointing out a concern while also providing bulletin board material to motivate his former team? I’d prefer that to just a homer.
I sense a little hyperbole here. Sure it is a critical injury, but football is the ultimate team sport right? It will cost a few points, but to basically imply the season is over without Bobo is a little much. As far as the performance vs the GT defense…it helps when they know what plays are coming. I really feel like they sacrificed a win vs Pittsburgh and perhaps a spot in the playoffs by focusing too much on beating UGA. With that all said, the Dawgs defense will definitely be relied on heavily against Bama and I hope they bring it.
Ha, yeah I feel that way often with his posts about UGA game picks.
Pollack....is dead wrong. Shockingly.…Lol.
He's right about the impact of losing a Center, with Bobo's exoerience...but, he's wrong about the impact to UGA at this point in the process.
The Dawgs already have an answer to Bobo. It's not like Bobo is a 4 year starter. All of these Dawgs are 1 or 2 year guys.…in THIS offense...with THIS quarterback.
You can bet your patootie...that Stockton has worked with every one of their potential centers....including emergency backup, Gaston.
And, every one of the centers has had plenty of time, working with the 1's, by now. Bobo, has been a potential issue for weeks. UGA's not a high school team....they're professional & mission oriented.
Pollack doesn't know how to differentiate between the "standard" of Richt's Program....and the intensity and focus of Smart's Program. He's not familiar.
Lol....but, he will be. 'Course...I keep saying that. And, he keeps making the same kind of BCS Era statements. So, I don't know. Lol
Go get em Big Red....drive it down their freakin' throat and show these people how to play "Grown Man Football". Lol
It's always doom and gloom with Pollack. Overton not playing on the other side is at least as big of a story as Bobo. The Dawgs D is light years better than the first time around. Simpson is a little bit over confident, which is good, and Stockton and company won't look like the Tech game this past week. I don't think Frazier will fumble them points this time either. All in all I'm pretty confident. Dawgs 31 Roh Tah 21.
THis will be a chess match for sure. BAma will no doubt try to exloit a perceived weak area of the O-Line. Surely CMB and CSS have game planned for such a situation. Good coaches would. WHat if Bobo goes down? It's more than just insert player B. It has to do with how do we help player B out if he is struggling. and while I appreciate the old keep a stiff chin attitude of commenters, we're not as good on the O-line as we would be with Bobo starting. Now it boils down to how do we get the most out our backup and help him out?
I disagree with Pollock as far as Bobo being out is greater than Gunner or Branch being out. We'll see whose right.
I feel like Pollack likes playing the devils advocate to give the players some bulletin board material, sotey will bring more juice!
