It's all too much. Go back and look at the number of games played when Tech won the national championship. 12 games. Now a possible 16 games. Typical for everything nowadays, where kids are up a six in the morning running sprints and ballgames on Sunday.

The SEC brass just handed the B1G and their biased committee a big gift. These committees have not given the SEC the benefit of playing a much harder schedule despite promising that they would, and that will not change even after the SEC cuts its own throat by adding another SEC game. Adding another SEC game and with only 1 bye week is doubly brutal.

    Big win for the B1G!

Kirby's right. Nine SEC games is a gauntlet and a war of attrition. During the SEC Championship, both Georgia and Alabama were down key players because of the weekly slobber knockers that occur in the SEC. Heck, even Caleb Downs, who began his career at Alabama and whose now at Ohio State said as much. Paraphrasing his quote: "up here you have two or three heavyweights, down there everyone is a heavyweight…" I suspect that's why he left; less competition and physicality. Kirby stresses toughness, both mental and physical and the desire to "hit people" during play. Those feint of heart need not apply at UGA. Whatever S & C Coach Scott Sinclair has been doing, its work. Vince Lombardi once stated "fatigue makes cowards of us all." Herb Brooks the "Miracle on Ice" 1980 USA Hockey coach always said "the legs feed the wolf, gentleman" adding "we might not be the best team at Lake Placid but we will be the best conditioned one…" Game in and game out the Dawgs always seem to have the better conditioned team, and they seem to get stronger in the 4th Quarter. Everything else being equal, the best conditioned team usually wins. Kirby wants to make the other team "tap out" , or as they said "ring the bell", referring to a Navy Seal tradition whereas those who quit at BUDS, are required to ring a ship's large brass bell three times indicating "I quit." Nine SEC games are going to be brutal. It will require the utmost in conditioning and a little luck to keep players healthy. The division model was a much simpler and effective method in my opinion; however, money talks and BS walks and an extra game means more dollars in the leagues coffers.

9 conference games wouldn't be so tough if UGA played in let's say the BIG10 or ACC where it is a couple of top teams and the rest of the league is below .500 garbage. GO DAWGS!
