5 Sugar Bowl questions about Ole Miss with Rebels insider Neal McCready
5 Sugar Bowl questions about Ole Miss with Rebels insider Neal McCready
Thereâs not much margin for error â if any â against the red-hot Georgia team it will face at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Caesars Superdome in this CFP quarterfinal.
Comments
Good insight from McCready - the only thing I see differently on his take, is on 4th down. Thinks they will continue going for it to stay in the game. Kiffin certainly liked it and it gave them a better chance imo.
I agree with Neal McCready, who’s in his 18th year covering Ole Miss; Ole Miss will play hard, compete, and simply come up short.
The Dawgs will simply be too much for them to handle.
Go, Dawgs!

Sounds like a game plan for anyone playing football. Nothing new here
Georgia’s defense is extremely better since the game in October. Ole Miss lost Kiffin and really haven’t improved much since. Tulane had over 400 yards of offense vs the rebel defense, and most of that was not just in the 4th quarter.
It will be interesting to see how the time off has affected Georgia. If the dawgs' defense plays like it did against Alabama, this will be a disappointing day for Ole Miss. I think the overall key to this game is the defense for Georgia.
There were zero turnovers by either team in the first meeting.
Dawgs held the ball over 15 minutes more than the Rebels and the Dawgs ran for 221 yards.
If the Rebels can reverse that trend, be able to score points, then they certainly have a decent chance to win. Dawgs need to be able to slow down Kewan Lacy and limit their run game like they were able to do in the 1st meeting. The fact that Ole Miss didn't score any points in 4Q is a big key for their loss while the Dawgs scored 17 points and won.
Time of possession has been a key factor in the Dawg's offensive surge against the better opponents. Against Ole Miss - more than 15 minutes longer; Against Texas - over 11 minutes longer; Against GT - over 10 minutes longer; Against Bama (2nd time) - over 13 minutes longer.
When we lost to Bama at the end of September, Bama held the ball 11 minutes longer than the Dawgs, yet total yards for the entire game for both teams was only a 40 yard difference.
"— Ole Miss has to have some success against Georgia’s rushing attack."
If they sell out to stop the run, they could pay a heavy price against the Gunner Stockton lead passing attack. He and his WRs and TEs are deadly, and Ole Miss cannot afford to neglect the pass coverage by leaving their corners out there alone to cover Thomas or Young (or anyone else). Let them "load the box" and see what happens! Ole Miss will desperately need to create some turnovers, and UGA just isn't likely to accommodate them with such a mistake.
Sorry, my comment wouldn't post from my phone………………..😜
