@Eastmandawg is My Dodge County Brother and I’m honored to call him my friend !! As I am honored to call many of you here my friends. Guess that means All of you as far as I’M concerned none of you are my enemy !!
Yeah the Dawgs lost this game. And Yeah they didn’t reach the goal that They hoped for and We hoped for. But To Me our Dawgs are NEVER Losers as a Team and a program. Neither is Kirby a Loser in spite of some games he’s lost. And the Dawgs fan base IS the Best in CFB !!
As has already been stated many times by fans here on DN. The SEC beats its self to pieces through the course of the season. So that by seasons end they have numerous injuries to critical players And are just plain ole bone weary.
The Big has a bunch of glorified scrimmages by comparison with one maybe two real competition games spread apart from each other.
Though Yes like most Dawgs fans I to am disappointed that they lost and didn’t make it to the goal They and We hoped for. I’m still Very proud of the 2025 Dawgs !! 12-2 and the SEC Crown and at least making the playoffs is a Very good record that no Dawgs fan should be ashamed of.
Settle for it ? NO !! Of course not !! The goal should be a National Title Every year. And I’m very confident KS and staff and the players will do all they can to reach that goal.
But from Kirby to a true freshman these are human beings and the reality is they Will lose games. Even the critical ones. But my goodness look at All The Wins !! Then be grateful you’re not a UF, SC, Miss St. and other SEC teams fan !!
Bama loss by the largest margin in a post season game in their history according to the announcers !! Bet there were allot of anger and tears from that proud fan base !!
And Gunner will be harder on himself than any of us would be. Dawgs will be back and ready to fight for glory !! Believe that !! P.S. I won’t be shocked if OM wins the Ntl. Title. They are a very good team. Go Dawgs !!
A few random thoughts from reading other posts:
I don't know how this rumor started that Stockton was not free to change plays at the LOS. He definitely could — and did — do that. All season long, including the Sugar Bowl. Kirby even said it during the season. It's mandatory that all UGA quarterbacks be able to do that. But Stockton really believes in Mike Bobo, so I notice that he's been more reluctant to change plays. Stockton is a soldier, a "yes sir, yes ma'am" sort of guy. He has the option to change plays and he has. But not nearly as often as Beck or Bennett.
Injuries are a part of the game. We have always seemed to have more than our fair share (especially foot injuries), and I wonder if that isn't on our strength and conditioning program. We seem to get injuries even in practice. Also, I'm sure this is in my own mind, but players on other teams seem to recover from injuries MUCH QUICKER than UGA players. Just saying.
I don't care which model of acquiring players we use as long as it's the winning model. I also don't care how "sustainable" a certain model is. If the sustainable model keeps getting us left at the altar, let's change things up. I think most Dawg fans would love to exchange places with Indiana right now. Or Ole Miss, for that matter.
Kirby is not close to being fired. Won't happen. Nor should it. But what also won't happen is him getting rid of either Bobo or Schumann. And at least one of those two things SHOULD happen. But Kirby is convinced they are not the issue and thinks anyone who suggest that is a fool. As the old song says, "there is none so blind, as he who will not see."
Speaking of Kirby, all year all we heard from him was how this year's team was good at running the ball and stopping the run. And how much "physicality" (which I'm still not convinced is an actual word) this team had. So what happens in the Sugar Bowl? Ole Miss outrushes us and their lines dominated us on both sides of the ball. That really was the game. Had we been able to CONSISTENTLY run the ball, and stop the run, (which I believe deep down Kirby & Co. expected us to do) we would have won that game by double digits.
Finally, I don't know where we find playmakers, but we really need to. Branch was a star for us, but he didn't exactly stretch any defenses. Young, played OK, but he was more of a "what might have been" kind of guy. But after them, the drop off in WR talent was precipitous. Even in this game, outside of Branch and Young, the only other WR with a catch was Sacovie-White, and he had just one, and it was in the fourth quarter. No one else scares you and to be honest, for all the talk about who we've got coming back next year, I'm not impressed. Go back and watch our games the past two years. Our receivers just don't get separation. And that makes it harder to run the ball. We've got to get playmakers.
Finally, I knew our pass rush was weak, but I didn't realize that we had the fewest sacks this year of Kirby Smart's tenure. That's hard to believe but yet not. Even against the FCS teams, we couldn't generate sacks. Kirby would always try to downplay it and claim the QBs were getting rid of the ball so quickly, we couldn't get a sack. But that wasn't it. Even in the Sugar Bowl, we were blitzing and just getting stonewalled. Pass rushers and dynamic offensive playmakers. We may have to spend big to get those. But hey, it's only (somebody else's) money. Go Dawgs!
No sarcasm at you Dallas. But it’s Not a rumor. It was posted in an article on this site Quoting Gunner himself. Now that was earlier in the season so it might well have changed. But Gunner also said he trusted Bobo’s play calling explicitly. No rose colored glasses or overly sensitive of criticism of Gunner, just relaying what was posted by DN staff here earlier in the season. NOTE Those are not the exact words but very similar. I remember being some what shocked and sort of angry at the lack of trust.
@ DallasDawg And with respect None of us know if it might be Bobo changing the plays what with the microphone in the QBs helmet. Just saying ……
