Personally, I think Stocktin and Coach Bobo know Stockton's limitations, but I asked all of you to watch the QB behind Stockton, the kids has an elite arm and I think Stockton knows it which is why he always bounces back up. If the kid stays around 27 could be the break-out year if the Dogs can get any sort of defense back.

it’s very true that every five star QB that we have recruited has not worked out. But, how much of that could be completely placed on the shoulders of the player themselves? We had Some that were injured, had to ride the bench, some transferred, Some did under perform ,some That decommitted Before getting to campus. Does our offensive philosophy not clip the wings of any top shelf, passing quarterback?

And Who’s job is it to accurately evaluate the QB recruits if it’s not the head coach and the offensive coordinator and the QB coach? Meaning that if we went ahead with some of these failed five star players nobody but the staff made the selection. Alabama had one blue chip producing QB and receiving corp After another for a few years and won titles in so doing.

@Beachwagon Huh? Jake Fromm was a 5 star by 2 of the 3 recruiting services, and even the one that had him as a 4 star had him as the #51 player nationally, the #5 player in the state of Georgia and the #2 pro style QB. Fromm took UGA to 3 consecutive SEC championship games. His bad 2019 season was thanks to the WR talent falling off the map when Mecole Hardman, Riley Ridley and Isaac Nauta left early for the NFL, Terry Godwin graduated and Smart whiffed on Vidal Hazelton and a bunch of other WR prospects the prior 2 years because they didn't like the offense. (Neither did Godwin, or at least Godwin's mother. Neither did Ridley and Nauta, which is why they left early.) Even there, had Lawrence Cager not gotten injured, UGA goes 13-1 and gets that 4th playoff spot instead of hapless Oklahoma.

And … D.J. Shockley won 1 of the 2 SEC championships under Mark Richt. Did so with one of the weakest supporting casts ever to win the SECCG too … Thomas Brown and Danny Ware were the leading RBs with barely 1200 yards combined and Shockley actually led the team in rushing TDs. The best WRs were TE Leonard Pope, Bryan McClendon and a true freshman Mohamed Massaquoi with no one reaching 600 yards. The OL was spotty too. During the 1 year that he got a chance to play, Shockley didn't have anywhere near the talent around him that the better David Greene, Matt Stafford or Aaron Murray teams did, yet he beat an absolutely loaded LSU team that sent a ton of guys to the draft.

So that's 3 guys (at least) from a program that doesn't exactly have a track record of recruiting blue chip QBs in the first place. Georgia has never been like FSU and Miami in the 80s and 90s, Florida under Spurrier and Meyer, Oklahoma under Stoops and Riley, Ohio State now and USC for ages that stocks up 5 star QBs every year. Landing 5 star QBs, especially those not from Georgia, is going to be a challenge until UGA QBs start putting up bigger numbers and getting drafted high by the NFL. And that isn't going to happen until UGA gets back to embracing an offense where QBs regularly throw downfield.

I’m excited for the kid. I hope he ball outs at UGA. Probably a dream come true to play in Athens.

Not to be negative, but why do 5 star receivers avoid UGA like the plague? Our offensive execution and play calling is hard for me to watch and I’m a diehard UGA fan. There seems to be a stereotype about UGA. Great for linebackers, tightends and running backs, but avoid UGA if you’re a WR.

Agree with last 2 posts. At now 10 years into his tenure it would seem clear that Kirby is an intelligent guy. He knows that we lack a downfield pass attack. He knows about the teams that do. He comments pre-game on how hard it’s going to be to stop such “explosive” teams. The only conclusion is that he long ago made a decision not to go that route. Stay the course, emphasize defense 3 to 1 over offense, along with weight room, conditioning, run game, clock eating, mistake reduction, resilience, etc. The OLD AL plan years ago under Saban. Saban however was flexible and opened up his offense. I don’t think our offensive players and strategy are accidental, just the opposite. If this is accurate then we can only dream, but nobody’s listening. Would appear this is just something he doesn’t want to pursue and Bobo takes the marching orders and works with it.

Not sure how the Saban example supports your complaints. In the time since he had that change in philosophy, Georgia's won two national titles (more than Saban in that span, the head to head win being the difference), three SEC titles and set the all-time SEC record for consecutive wins using the "OLD" plan.

Smart goes three whole years without a national championship and people act like he's some schmuck trying to make the triple option work.

@Eastmandawg @PeterA Agree with Yall. Ladd was a Three Star and he wasn’t even playing WR he was a QB !! Kirby saw the potential and well Yall know the rest of the story !! At 6’1” with blazing hot speed this young man certainly has potential !! Go Dawgs !!
