Agree we are not totally broken. I guess the point is that Kirby is known to watch players in practice make a very good play yet make his focus on a teaching moment to take good and improve to great. He says can’t stop always improving. He says in interviews “we have to get better.” No disagreement there.
While we have been close to greatness, it’s his job to change to finish those final improvements. The margin between an A and a B is 1 point. That’s an active process. It’s often said that most people are happy if they see progressive improvement year over year. That requires a change of philosophy, then of approach. But offensively I don’t think we have seen any movement that direction (to your point O line as well as play calls, and recruiting the players to target explosiveness). Could this philosophy be the main reason we have trouble getting and keeping explosive offensive players?
Bottom line is that if anything we have seen the offensive philosophy regress vs needed changes. The old “insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result.”
@Dogbone1 @khummel Gentlemen I applaud Both you on your comments and Totally agree. I personally think One problem fixed Might solve the other problem. Might. If the O Line Protects on Pass plays at an Elite level And opens holes for the RBs on an Elite level. Both actions on a Consistent basis. Then I’d expect even demand that Gunner get better at both throwing the ball over the middle And deep passes down field.
I Love and Respect the young man Allot. I’ve never tried to hide that. He reminds me of what CFB Used to be. But as starter he has responsibilities and obligations to the Team. I will not even attempt to relieve him of those responsibilities going into year Two as starter.
I would Hope that IF the O Line could truly be Elite that Kirby stop tasking WRs with being able to block so much. And focus on them getting separation from defenders and catching the ball. Which Should be the primary duties of a WR.
In short as you gentlemen have so adeptly stated and I absolutely agree. Put as much value, time, and resources into the Offense as he does the Defense. And that means changing Coaches if necessary. Like Yall I to am hungry for Elite to be associated to UGA football !!
That's right, do ALL this and then some, While at the same time navigating the "new" upside down world of CFB, as is being described/debated so well on another article on whether Kirby is still King. I'll tell you one thing, the coach or coaches who do that are finally going to earn their millions! Go Dawgs!
