But that doesn’t tell the entire story with Georgia’s haul. Based on average player ranking, the Bulldogs have the No. 6-ranked transfer portal class. It was a play for quality over quantity for the most part.

I'm glad we Canion, but getting Amaris Williams is HUGE!

Okay, yes, I'm glad we got Canion, but he's a mediocre level WR that isn't even ranked in the Top 200 in receiving yards. Branch is ranked #62 and still didn't have even close to the number of receiving yards as the top players. Once again, we're getting excited about mediocrity when it comes to our "best" receivers. Typical for Georgia. Branch got most of his yards after the catch, and like has been said, that's not Canion's strength. Gunner is the other part of this equation, and that means a vertical passing game. We need to become a team that is a legitimate downfield threat.

Williams is who I'm more excited about.

I think we have a lot of capable bodies at WR, but I don't see a single stud in the group - at this point. Hopefully, the cream will rise to the top.

I'm glad our "HAUL" was to your liking, Conner. Would you choose another word please? How about "player", "student athlete", "young men"?

What about all these high rated tight ends we have? Were they just recruited to block?

  • MontanaDawgMontanaDawg Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

@RedUga4Ever....appears so. I'm as perplexed as you and most others are. Williams is a beast and an easy target. I think we threw to him twice all season. Against Ole Miss during the regular season we had 8-9 completed passes to TEs. Best looking offensive game we had all season with over 500 yards of offense. Before and after, practically nothing.

Canion is a decent WR. But if we need him to be better than Branch or even Colbie Ypung, I think we will be disappointed. To me he is a lot like a slightly taller London Humphreys. A fairly good athlete who will flash the occasional highlight reel type catch, but he will struggle to consistently put up big numbers.

Nothing wrong with "getting excited". The pieces fit well with what we already have FWIS. I am looking forward to next season. Take the time to listen to Brandon Adams on players above (edit).

Conner, thanks for the analysis. Also, use the words that you wish to use. Most of us don’t get our feelings hurt over the use of nouns as some here apparently do…

Next season UGA will be paying NIL to 7 TE's. Seems like overkill. Delp and Luckie had a combined 35 receptions in '25. Same OC play caller and QB, who has difficulty throwing over the middle, in '26 Maybe some of that money would be better spent on other positions.

"Dawggie"—Thanks for the support and for the "vote down". Hurt feelings have nothing to do with good journalism and a certain RESPECT for the young men you hope to come play for your University. I have two sons who were heavily recruited by UGA and they read Dawgnation daily—as do all of them. I don't do votedowns, so you have your fun.

THere's something wrong with UGA. Can't quite put my finger on it but we just can't attract the high impact WR's. CAn't recruit them or buy them. Like was said below we have a great stable of TE's we never throw to(hardly). I know Ladd turned out very well but no one wanted him and Pickens was a last second change of mind we had no idea we would get. Lucky for us.

Do we have a too short QB that can't throw over the middle problem? I think the stats bear this out.

We're just too good of a program not to recruit or get out of the TP top notch receivers.

Could Gunner deliver a NC next year? Maybe, if he had Indiana type receivers. But we don't. He can't be the QB where it all rests on his shoulders. He needs help in manpower and in play calling. What he lacks in phsical giftedness in certain areas he compensates with **** and determination. That has bode well in winning 2 SECC games but hasn't translated beyond that.

i almost feel like we're sort of like the 1990's Atlanta Braves where we win our division evey year but only won 1 World Series! A fun team to watch regular season because they were just so dominant, which built your hopes up again, only to be let down in the post season!

Deboer has one year( i believe) two at the most to turn his program around before he could be gone.

How long does Kirby have to get back to the NC game or at least win a playoff game? I say 3 years with the he can do no wrong crowd and 2 years with the majority of fans. That would mean either 5 or 6 years without a playoff win. That's a long time in college football. An eternity. Ask Dabo. Once on top of the coaching world, now Mr. Irrelevant.
