Do You Have A Lingering "Cold"?
I'm on week number 8 of a "cold" virus. I've been on two types of antibiotics and steroids - no impact whatsoever. When I went into the doctor 2 weeks ago the nurse told me she had the same thing last year and it lasted 3 months. Apparently it's not the flu or Covid, it's some unidentified virus where the symptoms are different in each person. The frustrating thing is just when you think you're over it, it comes back. I think it may be bacterial in nature because it's so persistent and immune from treatments. On Saturday I was shaving and had a coughing spell and up came what looked like a piece of chicken liver. It was a blood clot… not good, but not entirely unusual given I've been coughing for two months.
I truly hope nobody else gets this stuff because it's a mutha!

I've had a cold for about a week now. First cold I can recall in over 30 years. If course, my memory isn't elephant like. Feels like it's gotten better, but still have an occasional cough and congestion.
Get better!!
I'm good to go, in January my body was achy like a fever for a week, although I didn't have a cold, cough, sore throat or fever. My temp was constantly at 98.7 and my phlegm was clear; it was just weird. 😎
Dang bro, that sounds terrible and a little unusual/concerning.
Try a spoonful of turpentine & sugar. If it won’t cure you, it will kill you.
My Granny use to give me & my brothers that stuff growing up. I hated it, but it worked. Kinda like duct tape, it worked on everything.
But if you do decide to try it, consult with your Dr. first, cause you didn’t read it here..😏.
Unlike a bacterial, those viral illnesses are hard treat, as there are no medications that will speed the recovery that can be given…just OTC stuff & probably plenty of water.
Hope you feel better soon.
I get those hard to kill colds every 5-6 months, thankfully I have a cure, two fingers of good bourbon administered a the top and bottom of the hour, until cured.
Dang, 8 weeks! That’s tough stuff! I imagine dealing with it for that long can be extremely draining. Obviously the normal way to fight this is to stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, and possibly an antibiotic and/or OTC meds to treat specific symptoms.
At times it’s likely that it can feel like your just trying to get by until it runs its course, but in your case it appears to be running the course over and over again.
The fact that you’ve been through two different antibiotic treatments along with steroids to no avail makes me think that you’re just going to have to suffer through this thing until your own body adapts and learns how to fight it off with your own immune system.
It’s possible that whatever is causing your illness could in a way be feeding off of itself. What I mean is that just dealing with a lingering sickness can cause much stress, and stress can in some cases weaken your immune system by lowering one’s white blood cell count. This, on top of all of the other symptoms you’re dealing with can drain energy and make it a struggle for your body to shake it off.
I hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m sure this episode is getting more excruciating by the day, and already dealing with it for two months seems almost unbearable. Stay hydrated and rested as much as possible, and hopefully those WBCs can strengthen and figure this thing out. Good luck, hopefully the worst is over and it won’t be much longer.🤞
Cold/Flu season isn't fun. Sounds like we are all humans. It also sounds like most everyone in here knows what actually works, and what does not… praying for all of y'all. ….and?? GO DAWGS!!!!
