First, let's not compare Dabo with Kirby. Smart is a far better coach and is navigating the new era of college football much better. Clemson picked 4th in the ACC this coming season. After a 7-6 season, the Tigers have lower expectations. FanDuel Sportsbook lists Miami as the favorite. Clemson also ranks tied for 59th nationally in returning starters, according to CBS Sports data.
Second, other than maybe Texas, there isn't a better and a more overall experienced roster in the SEC than the Dawgs. And we don't play Texas during the regular season.
And you can't tell me that 14 starters coming back isn't going to make a difference. Heck yeah it will Kirby! Just look at how Indiana and Ohio State won their NCs - retention and experienced players. And nowhere is retention of experienced players more important than at QB. Now how well Kirby and the rest of the assistant coaches prepare the team...only time will tell. But having another year of experience under Gunner's belt is huge. The Dawgs season's fate ultimately lies in Gunner's hands, Bobo's play calling, our offensive execution, and some lady luck on the injury front. I'm not worried about our defense. They should be better than last season - just need to get a more effective pass rush, and I think that will happen.
Most news outlets picking Texas or Georgia to win the SEC. Dawgs are in the best position right now than we have been in several seasons, so we definitely need to take advantage of it.
if Georgia played in the ACC it would be a championship every year
