Somehow, someway there needs to be someone with the balls to say enough is enough and it sure won’t be the NCAA. Someone like Nick Saban comes to mind to be elected, appointed or ordained to head a governing body that will put an end to some of this nonsense and get everyone back on a level playing field. NIL is never going away but right now it is running amuck. This is exactly what drove Saban away from coaching. Go Dawgs!

@MikeGriffith thank you for a well written article with adjunct facts pulled from varied sources and cohesively put together for an insightful read.

note- seems like Coach Smart is lining himself up to be the next AD at UGA when Brooks kicks Sankey out

Vince went on to serve as AD after his coaching career at UGA. I wouldn't be suprised to see Kirby as AD in the future. As much as Kirby loves UGA, and shows his support for all the other athletic teams, I think he'd be an excellent AD at his alma mater after he hangs up his coaching (hat) visor..

I'm just going to throw out a number. How about 20 Million in spending per team max. Kids will get paid. A lot of smaller institutions will still be in budget, and allow for other sports spending. Open the roster count by 20 kids, which will allow developmental athletes to have a chance.

Vince Dooley wore both hats at UGA during his time. When he took off the Coaching Hat and handed it to Goof, he kept the AD Hat. He partially owns UGA's decline of the late '80's, early '90's...imo. But, I'm willin' to let it slide. Lol.

Dooley's ambition went further than football....imo. He was going to throw his Political Hat in the proverbial ring for the Georgia Senate in '86 i think it was. Which...i believe...distracted him and led to a slight decline.

Shoulda' done what Tuberville did....get out of football first. Lol

Same thing happened to Mark Richt, IMO, when his wife got sick sometime in the mid-'00's. The distraction led to a slight decline....cause, he took his eye off the defense and Special Teams.

Richt was just recovering and getting his feet back under him after the "Pruitt hire", when Smart was hired for the '16 season.

Imho...Because of Richt's lack of expertise on the defensive side of the ball...he was never gonna "get there" in the SEC. By the time he took over at Miami...he had lost his fastball.

But, Richt still saved the Hurricanes, imo. He put em back on a winning trajectory....and, eliminated some of the distracting nonsense in the lockerroom and coaches quarters.

I think Richt taught em connection and commitment...which is the beginning of a turnaround. Recruiting didn't hurt, either. Lol

totally agree no player is worth $4 million but the again you don’t hear Kirby talking about taking a pay cut either. No football coach is worth $13 million
