Georgia may have weakest SEC schedule in 2026, but it will be far from easy
On paper, this upcoming Georgia football schedule doesn’t seem as daunting as past iterations.
Comments
"It’s been a talking point for months. That ESPN ranked Georgia’s strength of schedule as the weakest in the SEC for the upcoming season has only provided more fuel to the idea."
It's quite possible that UGA does have the "weakest" conference schedule in the SEC, which is arguably the toughest conference in the NCAA. As our friends over at ESPN are certainly aware, that's how scheduling works when there are 16 teams in a conference and 9 conference games on the schedule. The rotation of opponents means that a "weaker" conference schedule will roll around occasionally, especially for the strongest team in the conference who will never have to face itself. As CKS has pointed out on multiple occasions, it's the SEC teams who are bruised and battered by the end of November when CFP preparations begin. It would be interesting to see how the "Media Darlings in the Gold Helmets" would look in December after playing 9 SEC games.
GO DAWGS!
No excuses. We have a veteran team. We should expect our first CFP win and a real shot at the NC. It's up to Kirby and his staff to deliver. No excuses.
UGA: 7-1 OM 7-1 Bama 6-2 Ok 6-2 Vandy 4-4 MIZ 2-6 Fl 1-7 SC 1-7 Au 0-8 Ark Any takers that the bottom 4 will go 4-32 this year? Thought not.
Does ESPN, in all their wisdom, factor in whether Georgia's game in on the road? That can make a substantial difference in games at Bama and Ole Miss..and has in the past. It sure made a difference for us against the Rebs and Longhorns in Athens
@JimmiesNJoes Are you predicting UGA to go 7-1 against 9 SEC opponents? Is Vandy going to opt-out again or is there a math issue?
last year’s conference record for each team Ga faces. The only things I predict is that I’ll have coffee waiting on me again tomorrow morning and I also predict that UF-SC-Au-Ark won’t only have a combined 4 sec wins this season. The metric that they use for strength of schedule is simply worthless
UGA will face many different teams this season compared to the last two which were basically the same in 2024 and 2025. The Dawgs knew what to expect from those teams more so than the new teams on the slate this year. For instance, the end of 2025 @ Missy St., Texas and Charlotte are now @ Ole Miss, Mizzou in Athens and @ South Carolina. Mizzou at home and the **** away are going to be pretty tough games. I think revenge and the fact that Ole Miss lost a good bit will take care of that one, but who knows. The stretch of Oklahoma, Vandy, Bama, and Auburn is not shabby either. I'll say it again, four letters E S P N.
And Texas was left off the list, unless they're being included in the bottom 4 teams that win 4 combined SEC games. And thats something i dont see happening.
Texas was left off because UGA doesn't play Texas this season. The other SEC teams are the ones that UGA plays this season with their records from last season.
Yea, I had a tough time following the original point in his message. Y’all are much sharper than I am!
Off topic for sure but wondering why Ga hasn’t been to T A&M yet ?
What henddawg said. Good assist!
Can I quote you to my bride!?
Sure, glad I could help!
