It must have been his second or third at bat that he got it…..I always remembered it as his first at bat…But it was magnificent!

50+ years ago easy to get that wrong.

The Milo Hamilton hometown call is good too. Just something about Vin Scully. Never liked the Dodgers but man I could listen to him call a game. His call of Gibson's homer in the '88 WS is something of legend too. Guy gives me the goosebumps.

Yep, Milo made sure he was on the Mic for that one…..should have been Ernie Johnson Sr but, hey, it worked
"….the greatest home run hitter of all time and its Henry Aaron!"

Pretty much sums it up, right!?

    Ding, Ding

Bobby Thompson in the fall of 1951 hit the HR off Ralph Branca of the Brooklyn Dodgers to send the NY Giants to the World Series! I think it was a one game tie breaker situation between the Giants and the Dodgers. They called it that because Armed Forces Radio was broadcasting to the American Troops stationed around the world and especially those in Korea who were stationed there during the Korean War.

The TV series M.A.S.H had an episode where they showed everyone listening to the call on the radio…..awesome stuff!

Not to jinx our lads, but by the 4th inning EVERY Brave had at least one hit. Among those were HRs by "Rake" Baldwin and Matt Olson. Sale with 5 shutout innings and only 62 pitches. Less that 13 per inning - very Maddux like. Sale can't have to worry about non-support at least for this game. Hope the offensive explosion is an omen of things to come. And…they are up 8-0 going into the 5th inning.

Update: Braces win 15-1. They even let their relief pitcher Mederos hit and he drove in 2 runs with a hard hit single. the Rangers; backup catcher was pitching but still…So the layoff didn't hurt the Braves' offense any. Another great start by Sale. Hope the Phils lost,

And I thought our 15 runs against Texas was impressive. The National pasted the hapless Athletics 23-4. Andres Chaparro was 4 for 5 with 2 hr's and 8 rbi's.
