TAMPA, Fla. — It’s stereotypical for a team’s quarterback to be viewed as its leader. He’s the one barking out plays and taking command of the huddle.

I'm also excited, and anxious to see these 2026 DAWGS in action..GoDAWGS!
“Perhaps no player better represents their football team in the SEC than Stockton. He’s everything you’d want a quarterback to be when it comes to intangibles.”
Stockton was born for this position (QB), on this team (Georgia Bulldogs). No Hollywood swagger, no showboating, or individual self-appreciation. Just hard nosed, gridiron pounding, smash mouth football is what he brings. That’s the profile of the Georgia Bulldogs, Jake Fromm, Stetson Bennett, and now Gunner Stockton. They are brilliant personifications of those traits. I wouldn’t trade him for Manning or any of the others.
GO DAWGS!
On one hand GS should benefit tremendously from playing a year of SEC football and knowing the offense better. On the other hand there were way too many times he looked like a deer in the headlights. The game has to slow down for him if he is to improve upon what he did in '25. He has to know where his secondary receivers are. He cannot wait until he sees the receiver running open to decide to throw to him. The UGA offense has to have timing and location plays.
GS can't possibly think that CMB is the "best play caller in the country". CMB's pay calling last year, at the direction of CKS, limited GS's play calling much more than it ever did with Beck or SBIV. GS was held back to a remedial level for fear he'd make mistakes. That will be the most interesting thing to watch relative to the '26 UGA team. How much the coaches let GS breathe and what he does with the additional opportunities.
As his first year as the true starter ( even though he was never officially declared). I thought Gunner did very, very well. Perfect ? No. But highly hyped folks like Arch Manning didn’t fare any better.
If Gunner has improved Some that some should be the difference in very good and great. With the proviso that Mike Bobo puts him in a position to win using the Elite tools in the tool box. Yes the TEs ! Loaded there with elite talent. Use Them !
I’m not a coach or an expert but I’d move Prothro to WR. I believe he’d flourish there even more so than at TE. Losing Dowdel hurt the RB room but there’s still good depth there. I think this Offense has great potential . But time will tell the story.
Oh and hope the O Line is what it’s being touted to be. So many, many times Gunner didn’t have time to see the field. So he tried to salvage the play by running with the ball. And quite a few times he picked up first downs and/or positive yardage when other less mobile QBs would have been sacked ! Go Dawgs !!
Hey Yall a bit off topic but not much. If you could pick only Three WRs from this Dawgs team who would you say are the best three available ? Just curious. Thx in advance for your responses !!
Optimism burns brightly. Looking forward to the season.
Just my opinion, and going on raw talent with these 3..CJ Wiley, Craig Dandridge, and Talyn Taylor..GoDAWGS! If I had a 4th, I'd take Prothro as a WR.
Stockton took two brutal hits in the rematch against Ole Miss, a game he didn’t play quite as well. That difference, going from great to merely good, was the difference in a season-ending loss to the Rebels.) that one hit should have been targeting call but Gunner didn’t lose the CFP game against Ole Miss… the deft lost that game. Let receivers get behind them and no pass rush at all. The offense kept the dawgs in the game.
I approve that announcement ! 😀 I’m ready to see Em in action !!
