Senate delays vote on Protect College Sports Act: What that means
The Senate delayed its vote on the Protect College Sports Act, meaning proposed provisions could take longer to go into place.

This bill is better than nothing but protects the NCAA and gives the short end of the stick to the student-athletes…as usual. Fortifying an antitrust exemption for college sports is key to establishing true rules, and this doesn't come close to doing what needs to be done to make athletes full time employees. They need and deserve collective bargaining rights. It's so obvious that there is a blatant disregard for the players and too much protection for the NCAA.
With players getting paid like employees, there has to be some rules in place to keep this from imploding college sports. The only things the athletes are learning today are run to another team when you don’t get your way and rules don’t apply to them. Is this bill perfect? No, but it’s a start. Will most of it be challenged in courts? Probably.
Who out there in the regular work force gets to tell their boss what to do or how much they get paid? Nobody. I hope this bill passes so things can settle some.

All this bill does is restrict the ability of the athletes to make money and play where they want. Right now there is almost a free market for the athletes. It makes the schools work harder to obtain and keep their services. The schools don’t like to work that hard and liked the old system where the schools made all the money. I am all for free markets and I hope this bill does not make it out of the senate.
